Up for auction is a beautifully restored 1979 Z28 Camaro. I am selling this for a friend but know more about the car than he does. This car was purchased and restored as an investment. The owner, not really being a car guy, didn't realize the time and cost it takes to restore a car to this level. This car was completely disassembled and rebuilt from the bare frame up. It took one man and many thousands of dollars, approximately one year to complete.
The car was completed to this point approximately one year ago. It was driven less than 300 miles and put in storage until last month. It has been driven about 50 miles since then, and I have driven 40 of the 50 miles, personally. The car drives wonderfully, and would not be afraid to drive this car anywhere. There is lots of documentation as to the cost of parts and supplies to restore this gem.
The engine is the numbers matching original engine. It was simply re-gasketed, new high volume oil pump, high performance cam shaft (very mild - still uses original springs), new timing chain, new valve seals installed on heads. The transmission has been rebuilt with a performance shift kit installed (shifts firm, but not heeard). The rear end has been completely gone through - all new bearings, new rings & pinion (not sure of gear ratio), but not factory stock. New brakes, including backing plates, drums and lines. It is a 10 bolt, not sure if it's a Posi Traction. The front suspension has been completely disassembled, sandblasted, painted & reassembled, using all new parts.
The frame was also sandblasted and painted. All new body mounts installed and additional coat of specialized undercoating was applied after the body was attached to the frame. The tires are brand new. It has the original radiator that was professionally cleaned and checked. The interior has new carpeting, new upholstery on the front seats, and a new headliner.
The body has new rear quarters, new front fenders, inner fenders, and hood. It is lazer straight, with a beautiful red paint job. I am not sure what brand paint was used but it is definitely 2 stage. It has a very deep and shiny gloss. The Z28 graphics package was not installed, but is new in the box ae nd goes with the car. The two front air dam pieces are painted and go with the car. I do not know where the air dam is. I have the original build sheet, repair manual, and assembly manual. The car is not quite finished yet. The car still needs a final detail. It still has polish and wax residue in the nooks and crannys. It has been in storage for one year and just needs a good cleaning.
Since being driven, two issues have showed up. A vacuum line for the heater control to change from floor to defrost etc., has come undone. I can't get my hand behind the heater box to reinstall it. The cruise control did not work when I drove it. I have not looked at it yet and will try to address it before the end of the auction.

A lot of money has been invested in this car, and the owner realizes he will not get back what was invested. The reserve is set at a fair market price for the car at this time.
There is a $5, 000.00 deposit due immediately at the end of the auction, via Paypal. The balance due upon pickup of the car. No personal checks, cash or certified check only. The owner does not want to store the car, so it must be picked up within 10 days of auction end. The car is located in Philips, WI. There is no guarantee or warranty of any kind. The car is sold AS IS.
Receipts for parts for warranty purposes can be supplied. The owner's personal information must be removed first, and there is a lot to sort through.
