1984 Corvette Coupe for Sale. Relisted due to non payment by high bidder. Selling because I'm planning ahead for retirement. If you are a Corvette guy or even just a car guy, this one is for you! Registration is current and I have title in hand. I had it repainted, with clear coat, color sanded and buffed Magnetic Red that is a factory color from around 2001. The car has brand new tires, brakes, rotors, booster, etc. The seats and carpet were redone. Interior is 2 tone black & brown and looks nice. It comes with ZR-1 replica wheels made specifically for this 1984 Corvette. (i.e. Has proper backspacing, etc). I have hardly driven it. It was something to do as a hobby mostly, I suppose.
All mechanical items to the best of my knowledge, engine, transmission, overdrive, etc, are functioning normally at this time.Keep in mind this car is 31 years old and it's bound to need something! I have replaced the alternator and fuel pump. The more you drive it the better it gets! I did notice the idle drifts a bit now and then when it hasn't been started for a while. My mechanic suggested a new throttle position sensor which I purchased but never installed. (Car is not throwing any codes, check engine light comes on and off briefly but only sometimes. Not usually on. Usually noted when idling after it hasn't been driven for a couple of weeks. New TPS sensor included for you to install. Value around $70). Also has a newer Die Hard battery under warranty from Sears. If you leave the car without starting it for weeks in freezing cold weather it may need a charge. It's fine if you drive it or start it every week or so.) The headliner needs to be re-glued but it's not torn. (Just remove T-top & redo it).
IMPORTANT: Car is located in the Running Springs Area. I will not deliver the car. You must come and pick it up or drive it away. (I drove it up there with no problems whatsoever). It has a few scratches. Mirror edge got scraped by trash barrel. Hardly noticeable, easily touched up.Car is sold as-is and where is with no warranty of any kind.
Keep in mind I am not asking tons of $$ for this car, so be reasonable in your expectations. There will be no negotiations after the auction ends. You win, you own it at the high bid price. (Necessary due to low price. I am losing money selling this car). I have never run a CARFAX on this but the story is that I purchased it from a dad who took it away from his son. (He owned a small dealership in Colton, Ca) The dad got it from original wealthy owners from Ventura, Ca where the wife got it as a birthday present but never really liked it but didn't want to hurt the hubby's feelings. They had several high end cars so it wasn't driven much. The vehicle speed sensor was inoperative for a short period while I hunted for the part. The local Corvette Specialty shop repaired it. You should consider this car as having about 100K miles on it. The odometer currently reads 99, 922 but I am not the original owner so I am not making any warranty regarding that. I'm also still driving it a bit now and then.
This is neither a show car or a project car. It may need a few things to be a daily driver if that's what you want it for. I have recharged the AC, and it was converted to the newer refrigerant type too. Feel free to ask questions. NO ZERO FEEDBACK BIDDERS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED.
This is the first year for the C4 Corvette. There was no 1983 Corvette except for test models that you can see in the Corvette museum😀 GM nearly didn't get the '84 out on time either! As a result in 1984 there were only about 6, 128 manual transmission Corvettes for all of 1984. This was the last year for the famous crossfire injection too. I also think the Z51 performance option was uncommon so all in all this seems to be a fairly rare car.
It needs a few things (horn won't honk, ac fan knob missing, etc) but you are getting lots already done! (I spent hundreds alone on roof and hatch rubber replacement). I checked classic car values and the average price showed $6, 700 and this is clearly an above average car.. Normally you would expect a car this age to have 200k miles, have a cracked dash and need paint and interior work too. This is NOT one of those cars!! This car has lots of good features! All the segments on the digital dash speedo work, the headlights pop open correctly, etc. The values for these vary greatly depending upon condition. This is one that is in better shape than most out there.
I urge anyone who has serious interest in this car to come and check it out before bidding if you desire. Just let me know. I have tried to be as descriptive as I can, both the good and the flaws. I also added a picture of the build sheet in the car that shows its a Z51. (Did the best I could with it, some glare. Sorry!) Has newer stainless exhaust tips too.
Local buyers may pay cash in hand & receive car, keys & title then. If you are from out of the area and wish to pay by certified check you will be required to wait to pickup the car until after the check has been deposited and cleared my bank. I will not release the car, key or title until funds have cleared my bank due to the number of forged cashiers checks that have been circulating as of late.
Please note the car is located where a full size big rig won't fit. I think the paved road is too narrow. too many pine trees, etc but not far from Highway 18.) You can either drive the vehicle to a different spot and pick it up there or use a regular flat bed tow truck if you are shipping the car. Shipping will be at your expense and you will need to make your own arrangements. Also, the car is a bit dusty and needs a wash and wax now due to the recent storm. I have it covered but it's a light duty cover (included if you want it).
I have not seen any fluids on the ground, oil or coolant, etc.I have never replaced the shocks. (You may want to look at those, but no odd noises, clunks, etc.) I have not noticed any excessive play in steering, shimmy, etc.The wipers work but need new blades. Turn signals, headlights, etc work as they should. the car does not burn excessive oil or smoke. It has never failed it's smog check. (Buyer will need to smog car themselves if required. I just don't have the time). The from windshield and rubber has already been replaced a few years back. You may want to eventually replace the door weatherstripping. Any and all required repairs are the buyers responsibility. Be realistic. You can't buy the equivalent of a new car for a few thousand dollars! If you are a collector, or car hobbyist you willunderstand this. The car actually gets pretty good gas mileage on the freeway too when the OD is activated, but if you are looking for new car perfection and 40 mpg this is not your car! Probably best suited as a second vehicle (As many Corvettes are due to the 2 seat limitation). You can have fun with this at the local Corvette shows. It's a really decent car for it's age! I have blacked out the rear photos of the license plates for privacy and security concerns. The car used to have personalized plates but now has regular current plates and tags. Thanks for looking!
