I met a 76-year-old man outside a restaurant yesterday morning. He was looking at my Crossfire SRT and when I walked up he said he had a Crossfire too. His Crossfire is a 2006 Limited Yellow convertible w/6 speed trans.(88K miles). He said he really liked it but he was having a lot of trouble driving it because it has a manual transmission. He hadn't driven a manual on a regular basis for 40+ years, so he wants to sell it. Hills (E. Tennessee has a lot of hills and mountains) especially, give him a lot of problems as well as stop and go traffic. I offered to help him sell the car (n/c) since he isn't very computer savvy and today that is the best way to sell almost anything. So, I went over to his house, took photos and drove the car. It is in excellent condition with no problems that I could find. Tires are good, transmission shifts smooth and the clutch is in good condition, oil changed, top goes up and down and is in good condition, no paint chips or scratches. The white interior is beautifully flawless. He takes great care of his cars and shows pride in ownership. He has won awards for other classic American cars he has owned, and this beautiful Crossfire shows his experience with cars. I would buy the car myself since my wife and I would really like to get (no $)another XF and if we did it would be a car just like this; convertible, N/A, stick, and yellow. This car was manufactured in Germany for Mercedes-Benz, but the body and some other minor components are American. The Mercedes platform that was used to build the Crossfire is a special light weight model that gives it impressive performance specs. The 3.2 liter, 6 cylinder engine produces 220hp, 229ft/lbs or torque, and 0 - 60mph in just 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph! All that and the four-wheel ABS brakes can bring to a complete stop from 70 mph in just 161ft! And it is SAFE with a 5-star crash rating by the NHTSA. It is It is a blast to go through the gears in the twisties. If this had the M/B logo on it, it would go for more $. The car was designed to be light-weight, fun, distinctive styling and very sporting. The Yellow color is rare for the Crossfire that is becoming quite rare and is soon to be a collectible. I can get more photos and any more information if you are interested.
