For sale is my 1960 Imperial Lebaron Southampton (hardtop). There were only 999 built, these are quite rare. This was the top of the line regular Imperial with a base price of $6318 This is a true factory black Lebaron with a blue (#611) interior. It is also very heavily optioned with:
power windows power seatpower vent windows power locksfront & rear A/Cradio Swivel seatFlyte Sweep trunk lidtinted (Solex) glassseat belts
Only options it does not have are Mirror Matic (easily added), Auto headlight dimmer, and cruise control. This car needs complete restoration. It came out of Missouri, has 1973 MO inspection sticker, still has MO front plate, I have no history on it before then. There is NO title but I may be able to obtain one at extra cost if it is difficult in your state. (e-bay requires you to put in title status under specifics) The car is pretty complete, it has regular '60 hubcaps and not Lebaron ones, roof emblems and 1 fender script are missing as well as tail lights. Trunk has Baron Other than that everything is there.
A previous owner started to do some work on the car. The engine compartment isn't missing anything but the water pump, fan, and A/C compressor (and some lines) were removed, all will be included as well as a second A/C compressor. The motor does not turn over and is frozen. I check it out from underneath with oil pan removed, could see some rust on the camshaft, the cylinders looked good actually, from what I could see. I would plan on a rebuild but might want try one or more solutions first, at least to try to get it freed up. (acetone and trans fluid, sometimes with diesel is pretty powerful). Transmission condition is unknown, since never ran.
The body is very straight with a couple small dings and a dent fixed around DR rear door. Obviously, the lower portions of the quarter panels are shot and need to be replaced. I am including both panels from a parts car, cut at the side trim (see photos in slideshow). Not perfect but would be hard to find better (I've looked..), and totally workable. Am going to include a better passenger side dogleg from another car. The trunk floor is bad, I will include a solid trunk floor from a CA parts car. The rest of the body isn't bad, the rockers have rust out on the exterior in spots--- they are structurally sound, it appears that snow or water was trapped between the stainless rocker panel trim and the rockers. I'm including 2 new entire reproduction rockers. All bolt on sheet metal is solid-- doors, fenders, and the usually rusted out hood and trunk lid, all have no rust. 1 fender has a hole the size of your finger on the bottom, that's it. The floor pan is pretty good, there is one very small hole on passenger rear (visible in photos), the driver's side front floor needs a patch around the mount area and the passenger side does also (a smaller one). Should be pretty easy patches. I scrapped off most of the undercoating on the floors so you can see condition. 1 body mount needs replaced and 1 or 2 others need patching. I may be able to include a driver's side floorpan, I'll have to check parts cars. The leaded seem on the roof at the rear that usually expands must have been repaired. It's not bulging, it looks like a good job was done as it's holding well and not expanding anymore.
All the trim is present, the replacement quarters have nicer quarter trim and the rear wheel well trim. I have rocker panel stainless which I'm including. The grille is nice, no beaks or bends and has a decent shine. Front bumper is straight and nice, including the missing bumper pod. Rear bumper has a small hole which is visible in the photos, I have a patch for this, cut from another bumper. I have the Flyte Sweep trunk handle, just not installed. The stainless roof inserts are nice. The windshield is cracked, new ones are available for $300-400. The rest of the glass is like new. You don't see the tinted glass that often, it looks real good.
The interior is complete. Obviously it needs to be completely redone. I know I have the passenger side window switch somewhere. The front seat does not swivel out automaticaly when the door is opened, this is due to a broken cable (very common). Release handles are good. Gary Goers has new plastic covers for underneath. Dash is complete. The headlights work. There are no keys. The power vent windows operate beautifully, you will not have to do anything to them. I could not get any of the windows to respond which means there must be a broken wire at the door, looked but couldn't find it. They should work once that's fixed based on how good the vents operate. The power locks make a sound. Obviously A/C untested but system is complete. Radio doesn't work. I tried but I cannot get the passenger side front door open, once the windows work you can reach down and unstick. Other doors are fine, driver's needs the hinge stop replaced. Door panels are only good for patterns, but all parts are there. SMS makes these door panels, they are shown on their website. I'll include good interior door handles to replace the broken ones. Pretty unusual to see seat belts in one of these, both front and rear. The rear seat bottom is solid, it's from another car. Gas tank is solid and clean, I replaced it. The neck needs work or replacement.
I have include tons of photos of this car. 1960 & 1961 Lebarons are a personal favorite of mine. I have 3 '60 Lebarons, I simply cannot do all of them. This car needs the most work but is the highest option. I've done work to it and added extra parts. I will NOT sell this to someone who is going to part it. I want to see it restored which is why I am including the sheet metal other things. It will come with some other extra parts. These are very rare cars and are stunning restored. They seldom come up for sale, especially factory black hardtops.
Car is sold as-is.
I have described it best I can and included many photos.
$1000 deposit via PayPal within 48 hours, balance in 10 days via bank wire, certified check, etc NO exceptions.
