A really nice previous 2 owner '78 Chrysler New Yorker with only 38, 411 miles. Stored in a garage and not driven in the winter. Origionally sold in New York state (1st owner) and sold to the 2nd owner from Pennsylvania in 1980. The 2nd owner is now 85 and had to move into a nursing home. I got the car in January 2016. (3rd owner). It had been driven very little for quite a few years but it started right up after the battery was charged. I drove it home and it ran good but I decided that it should be mechaniclly gone over so I had the oil changed (even though it was clean and only had a few hundred miles on it!) Oil filter, Air filter, Fuel filter AC/Alternator belts and Power steering belt are new. The Transmission fluid and filter were replaced and the bands adjusted. The brake pads and linning were worn down so the braking system was also gone over, New master cylinder, new front calipers and disc brake pads, new front hoses, new rear wheel cylinders and HD brake shoes. All the old brake fluid was flushed out with new fluid. New HD shock adsorbers front and rear. Has a fresh double coat of Mothers Carnuba wax
The car shows very well and is ready to go to car shows as it is. The paint is very shinny and only has minor imperfections, a few scratches that are not really noticed, a few door dings in the drivers door, a small dent (no crease) in the right front fender and a pair of chips in the hood. All the imperfections are shown in the photos except the scratches cause they didn't show up in the picture! The interior is really nice with no tears in the leather or scratches in the paint. All the gauges and idiot lights work as does the radio and power antenna. The carpet is very good with no wear spots or discoloration. The glass has no scratches or chips and is as new.
This car drives as though it is new. The ride is smooth with no bouncing or wallowing and corners very well for a car of it's size. The tires are like new. The 440 4 barrel engine starts right up and is quiet but powerful. The transmission shift is crisp and at the correct speed. The rear differential is quiet with no whine or clunking. This car definately had a pampered life!!!!! I would not hesitate to jump in this car tomorrow and drive across the USA!
