1993 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue
MUST GO BEFORE September 12th Scheduled tow
The good:
The last of the stately edged style New Yorkers provides a very comfortable ride. The cushy couch style seats are still lofty and add to the comfort of the ride. This machine runs and looks good. Well maintained, and usually garaged. Last oil change was a little over 2500 miles ago (180, 053), changed every 5000 to 7000 miles.
Interior is in great condition, all trim in great condition with a dashmat covering the dashboard since 1995, so zero cracks or discoloration of the dash, and minimal fading of the front dash and console.
Tires have about 50% tread left on them. All lights and electronics seem to be working (power steering, cruise control, power brakes, powered mirrors, powered driver's seat, auto leveling, etc), except the passenger speaker shorts out occasionally. Registered through April 2017.
The bad:
Transmission will not engage. The transmission needs to be rebuilt, or figure out how to re-engage. It's possible that the transmission control module (TCM) may be at fault, or it could be a bad solenoid pack. I pulled into a shopping center, picked up some supplies, and when I got back to the car to leave, it wouldn't budge. Transmission fluid is still a brilliant pink/red with no signs of rubber or metal contamination.
This vehicle was considered salvaged in 2013 due to a fender bender to the rear driver side door, broken rear suspension shackle bracket, wheel and hubcap. The bracket, hub, and wheel were replaced. The rear door still has the little dent at the bottom, but it doesn't affect function and doesn't leak. Still missing the rear left hubcap (currently missing on the right rear since the last tire rotation moved the hubcap to the left). The frame was not damaged and the car passed CHP re-certification with no problem.
The Ugly:
The paint has oxidized on the roof and spots on the hood and trunk. Rust inhibitor primer has been applied to prevent rust from forming where the base paint oxidized through (no rust, clear undercarriage verified by CHP during their inspection in 2013). The exterior simulated chrome trim shows crazing with cracks in the plastic outercoat. The actual chrome trim pieces are in great shape. The rubber trim to the driver's door window is cracked with an open gap which I have usually covered with electrical tape each fall with no issues, as I haven't come across a replacement yet. The front and rear Chrysler emblems were stolen last month (Thank you Los Angeles). Someone tweaked the passenger side windshield wiper blade shortly after it was parked outside in the middle of August.

Registered through April 2017. Smog will be the responsibility of the new owner as I cannot drive this vehicle as is, but it passed last year with no problem.
Still a lot of potential, especially for someone with a shop - so buy it now before I sell it to the Pick-n-Pull. I wish I could just rebuild it myself (about $200 for rebuild kit, solenoid pack, filter and fluid), but I am unable to repair or part out where I am, and I can't afford to replace the transmission (as advised by Aamco, but you know they're considering their own best interest). The Chrysler / Mitsubishi Ultradrive A604-41TE transmission is compatible with 40TE, 41TE & F4AC1 transmission kits. Buyer should be prepared to tow as the transmission won't engage.
If you're not interested in fixing the tranny, this vehicle would be Great for parting out with all the original gear, and an engine worth $300+ on craigslist (current avg $500 for Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth & Mitsubishi 3.3L applications) , seats worth $100+, door panels $20+ each, electronic blocks, wiring harness $40+, ECM ($100+), glass ($100+), tires, hubcaps ($30+ ea) and all the more custom and obscure parts only found at a wrecking yard or on ebay, like the landau top.
Get it now before I sell it to the dismantler for $338 on September 12th.
Comes with original Owner's Manual, and some of the maintenance records, more if I can find them since my last move. Can include the Haynes repair manual and specific body and electrical diagrams on CD at the request of the buyer.

I've been asked by several people about rebuilding the transmission, and it's almost impossible to perform a rebuild with the transmission installed, so you will at least need a rolling jack and 4 feet of clean workbench, at a minimum.
While I don't have a location to perform a rebuild, here are the items I would purchase if I had the shop to work in, all from eBay sellers:(Although I would highly recommend buying the transmission fluid locally as shipping adds a LOT to the price)
