Vehicle Description Offered for sale is this very desirable project vehicle, a 1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster in excellent structural condition, and ready to restore. These sought-after cars were well ahead of their time, and predated the MGB (which they are falsely accused of copying) by several months. With a very advanced 2.0 liter OHC 4 cylinder putting out 135HP, and a 5-speed manual gearbox (unheard of at the time), these were terrific driver's cars heavily used in SCCA racing when new, and now in their classic series.
This car is mostly complete, and appears to be missing only the windshield, lockset and ignition tumbler, grill, and tachometer. The owner's manual is still in the glovebox, and a Florida registration from 2006. The title is clean and shows actual miles. We test-fired the engine, and found it runs very well (please watch the video below).
If you are looking for a project car, or specifically a Datsun Roadster to restore, this is a fantastic candidate. The body is remarkably solid, the underneath is in great shape, and most everything is present and accounted for. These cars are becoming increasingly collectible, and finely finished examples are pulling in a lot more money than comparable MGBs, mostly because these are rarer and better cars - and very usable as daily drivers.
