1979 Datsun 280ZX with 31, 111 original miles. This is a real two seater.
5 speed manual transmission.
Rack and pinion.
4-wheel disc brakes.
I purchased this car from an estate sale and as such, I do not have maintenance/history for the car. I believe I am the 2rd owner. I have driven the car 521.6 miles since bringing the car back to life in 2015.
As a 37 year old car it has several dings and some rock chips on the hood. There appears to have been some right quarter panel damage that was repaired and repainted. I do not see any rust on the car except some minor rust on the steel portion of both front and rear bumpers. The aluminum (visible portion) on the bumpers seems fine. The passenger side door does have a small dent as the pictures show. Everything on the car works, warning lights, flashers, gauges, tail lights, headlamps, stereo, etc., except the cassette tape player. The engine sometimes has a slight hesitation between 2, 000 and 2, 500 RPM and then runs strong right to red line. I believe this to be an issue with the vacuum and or mechanical advance for the distributor. I have to say it is fun to drive.
The following has been done to bring the car to a drive-able condition;
Replaced oil and filter, Valvoline VR1 20w50.
Rebuilt left rear brake caliper.
Removed, cleaned, and reinstalled the fuel tank and sending unit.
Replaced fuel filler hose.
Removed, cleaned, tested and reinstalled the fuel injectors and fuel rail.
Installed new injector gaskets and hoses.
Replaced fuel filter, fuel lines, fuel clamps inside engine compartment.
New water pump and gasket.
New Champion Aluminum 3 pass radiator.
New thermostat, gasket, upper and lower hoses.
New spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap and plug wires, all Bosch.
New air filter.
New fan clutch.
New battery, Duralast Gold.
New tires, Falken Sincera SN-828 195 /70 R14 91T SL BSW.
New rear hood seal.
Replaced all carpet w/ MassBack sound proof by StockInteriors.
Re-upholstered seats, by MotorSport Auto.
Replace vinyl in hatch area and hatch gas lifts. The car has mostly original components;
Numbers matching body, engine and transmission.
All OEM Instruments and lights work.
All glass appears original (some rock chips [no cracks] in the windshield).
Dash is in perfect condition.
Rear hatch glass louvers (not installed) by Mulholland Interpart.
Original AM/FM stereo, Very cold AC, original R12 system, Power radio antenna
Power driver side mirror, Original Datsun Spare tire, and Spare tire compressed gas bottle.
Original tool kit and case, Original jack, Original Owner’s Manual S130 Series.
Complete 1979 S130 Shop Manual, Two additional aluminum wheels.
Front and rear brake pad sets, and a Car cover.
