Based on appraisal: Note car was tested on track (Mosport) by mechanics, but never tracked. Street driving only. usually take out for a run on the weekends. Reported mileage since first modification. Car is currently licensed and insured for the street. Sold As is without any implied warranties for road worthiness.
Unit Body/Chassis Condition
All exterior panels are in good condition. All exterior panels are properly fitted with the factory original “gaps”. The floor panel, unit body and all suspension pick up points are rust and damage free. There is no evidence of accident damage or repaired accident damage. There is evidence of repaired rust damage on the floor panel. New panels have been welded in to the floor. A tubular steel, safety roll cage is welded to the bodyshell and tied into the suspension pick up points. Otherwise, the unit body/chassis is not modified or altered from factory original condition. (car was Rust Checked by previous owners for many years)
Paint and Bodywork
The paint is not the factory original colour. The car was repainted approximately 10 years ago with a Ferrari Modena yellow colour (epoxy primer). This work was done to a good commercial quality - not show quality. There is very little plastic filler used in the body. The outer bodywork is upgraded with a front bumper valance, rocker sills, and rear aerodynamic fibreglass spoiler. This spoiler is blended into the bodywork. aerodynamic body parts by Motorsport Automotive. ZX mirrors (manual).
Aerodynamic clear headlight covers are installed (rare). The front left fender has a racing stripe. There is very little overspray on the glass or trim. There are no significant scratches, dents or marks on any of the exterior or interior paintwork. The overall appearance of the paint surface is shiny and well maintained. The Side lights and fuel filler door are welded and blended into body. Fuel filler access behind rear, flip down licence plate holder.
Exterior Trim
All exterior trim including window surrounds and frames, door handles, insignia, turn signals etc... are properly installed and have no readily apparent scratches or dents, and show very little normal wear and tear
Glass
The front windshield is an original ”Nissan“ unit. It and all other “Nissan” side and rear glass is in good condition with no scratching or pitting. (Front and rear Glass was changed with NOS parts, after paint job).
Wheels and Tires
Wheels are aftermarket “TSW” brand, sized 7.5 x 16 and they are in “like new” condition with no scuffs or dings. Tires are Yokohama brand sized 225/50 and they appear to have legal tread depth. Hub covers are properly fitted. A typical wheel/tire is shown in pix.
Interior/Trim
The front seats are recently new “Sparco” Evo 2 racing seats (with adjustable mounts) in “like new” condition. 5-point race harnesses as well with (new 2018) street belts installed for the road. The door panels are vinyl, original Z-car. The remainder of the interior has been removed and replaced with light weight, custom installed carpeting. The original dash has been removed and replaced with a custom (Ferrari GTO style) fibreglass unit, in “like new” condition. The steering wheel is an aftermarket “Momo”(Grant) unit showing little wear. Floor mats and carpeting were replaced with new after paint job. All instruments are custom units that are “Auto Meter” brand. There is no radio. The odometer is recently new and its reading is not relevant to the actual mileage of the vehicle. Typical interior upholstery views are as shown;The rear luggage compartment is covered in custom carpeting and is neat and clean, as shown. Can't remember original mileage, but was around 80K, which is not really relevant given the degree of updates.
The entire car was stripped out before the cage was installed. Stock Wiring completely removed. Entire heating system removed and replaced with Vintage Air heater. All switches and gauges replaced with Painless wiring harness (GM fuses) and Autometer parts. Gas tank removed and replaced by ATL 90 litre fuel cell with an ATL HI-flow in tank fuel pump (custom mounting under car, within enclosure inside car, with Dzus connector panel covered in carpet, braided fuel lines to carb, ATL fuel gauge on instrument panel. Fuel pump shut-off switch on instrument panel. Rear battery steel box covered in steel (velcro fastener) with carpet overlay. Carpet cover over Z-car storage behind seats. Upholstery by Diamond Trim, Toronto.
(Tons of weight and old parts removed)
Exhaust System: The entire dual exhaust system is brand new (2018) New “Hedman” ceramic headers were installed including muffler, X-pipe and tail pipes is in good working order (changed to reduce sound, as I no longer track cars).
Heating/Ventilation: The entire heating/ventilation system is in good working condition. There is no air conditioning. (Vintage Air system)
Mechanical Condition: The vehicle is subject to a scheduled, ( professional installation done here) maintenance program at Whitehead Performance of Toronto. The engine starts easily (manual choke and needs to be warmed up) and idles properly with no undue noise or smoke; thus indicating a general good condition. There are no significant oil leaks. The engine and engine compartment are neat and clean and have been detailed, shown in Pix.
Upgrades: The vehicle was upgraded in 2005, again in 2011, and 2018, to increase performance, reliability and safety.
Drivetrain: In 2005 the engine and transmission were replaced. Chevy 383 Stroker, 4 bolt main; Road race oil pan; aluminum heads, performance cam, Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley 650 4 barrel carburetor. TCI brand flex plate. Custom 700R4 automatic transmission set up for performance, shift kit, and matched to B&M shifter. MSD ignition, K&N air filter. external oil and transmission cooler, fuel pressure regulator, and under hood gauge, Griffen aluminum radiator with Audi electric fan, heavy duty CV joints (ZX turbo conversion to eliminate U-joints), heavy duty rear end (R200(3.5:1) with Quaife limited slip differential),
Brakes: Upgraded with 12 inch Wildwood callipers front and rear (Arizona Z-car), 280ZX master brake cylinder .
Suspension: Front and rear “Arizona Z Car” weld-in adjustable camber plates were installed along with the fully adjustable Arizona Z-car billet shocks and springs; Suspension Techniques front and rear anti-sway bars and bushings.
Appraisal done in 2012 values car @ $32, 900.
