You are bidding on my son’s 1979 Datsun 280ZX. This is his
first car and has been a learning experience for him. He purchased the car with
the hope of driving it and slowly restoring it over time. The first lesson he
learned was about Arizona smog laws (we recently moved here). Apparently the
previous owner had it registered in an area where smog checks were not required
but we missed that part of the story. When the boy went to register the car he
had to smog it. The car passed everything except the idle test. The repairs for
a new catalytic converter were too expensive for him at this time so he is
selling (estimate around $400.00). If you live in a “no smog required” area
then this should not be an issue for you.
The odometer reads 161, XXX miles and the previous owner says
the engine was rebuilt around 25K ago. The engine runs strong and the car is
fun to drive.
The car drives pretty good for its age but has a few things
we need to note:
· 6 cylinder with 5 speed manual transmission
· New battery
· Alternator works but is not exact model for this
year car
· Front tires are new
· Rear tires show wear but are drivable
· Turbo hood, but no turbo on this engine
· No A/C but the under dash parts are there and
could be installed
· Arizona car so body is solid, however rubber and
plastic parts beat up from heat and sun
· Transmission mount is worn and makes a “clunk”
when shifted (Transmission seems fine)
· New interior carpet on floor
· Do not have keys for doors as new ignition was
installed by previous owner
· Passenger window crank missing
· Some bushings replaced but still needs
suspension work and alignment
· Condition of brakes is unknown; we have not
looked at them
· Flat black paint (looks like Plasti Dip to me)
· There may be other issues that I have not listed
or are aware of (it’s a 1979 Datsun)
This vehicle is of course not perfect but it is VERY cool.
She needs a home where someone with a few more dollars than a high school kid
has to get her back up to speed. The title is clean and can be transferred
easily; your smog situation will need to be considered.
The car is sold “as is” with no warranty expressed or
implied. I have uploaded a sample of pictures but we can provide more if you
need greater detail. I do not have time to arrange shipping for the buyer but I
will provide “reasonable assistance” to the buyer and their chosen shipper. I
reserve the right to determine what “reasonable assistance” means. The vehicle
is not currently registered so driving to a location will be an issue. Feel
free to contact me if you have shipping questions.
I will accept Pay Pal or certified US Dollars
and payment in full is expected before releasing the vehicle.

“This is a 1979 Datsun 280Z that has been in the Arizona Desert. The metal parts are solid with little to no rust. The plastic parts are all having a tougher time with the relentless sun exposure. This vehicle is sold as is so please let us know if you have any questions.” |
