1970 Datsun Z-Series

Datsun Z-Series (1970)
for sale

Price: US $7,500.00

Description:

You are bidding on a rare, 1970 Datsun 240Z.
- Manufacture date is June 1970.
- Has G-nose conversion complete with the associated headlight covers, Japanese fender flares, badges, and bullet mirrors.
- I have been the sole owner since 2001. In 2003 a truck backed into it and I replaced the hood, radiator, and headlights. Title is clear.
- Many mechanical upgrades over the years at the Tidewater Z shop in Virginia.
- In 2003 I had the paint stripped and color changed to silver.
- The original color was green, which is still visible in the back compartment.
- The discoloration that can be seen in the back compartment is old adhesive and peeling paint, it is not rust.
- Has the rear hatch vents (rare, only on the earliest models) instead of the pillar vents
- Has the vertical defroster elements on the back hatch (rare, only on the earliest models)
- Has the original power antenna which still works (can be raised or lowered with the push of a button)
- I have replaced a number of things over the years including the wheels (from motorsport), rear view mirror, the dash, as well as other details too numerous to list.
- The motor is a 2.8 liter from a 1978 280 Z
- Transmission is a 5 speed manual (not the original)
- I have a carpet kit (black) which I have not installed and will supply to the winning bidder
- It runs well, starts on first crank, but it also needs rings or a rebuild as it uses some oil.
- Odometer reads 95, 269. As I recall, the mileage read about 70, 000 when I purchased it in 2001.
- So many things have been added and replaced over the years that the odometer reading is not representative of the condition of the car.
Note to purists. I have not attempted to keep it stock, which I realize is more popular.
Floorboards and fenders are clean. Car was undercoated in 2003 when painted silver.
Please email with any questions, comments, or requests for photos. I am going to add a video of it running and place it on Youtube tomorrow.
I have placed two videos of the Z running, on Youtube. Ebay does not allow me to place the link.
So go to Youtube and look up username: insight 1318
Two vids there; one of the Z starting, and a second with a short drive.

“1970 240Z with G-nose conversion. Manufactured 6/1970. I have not seen a lower VIN # on a running Z (I know some exist). Most enthusiasts don't know that the first 240's had hatch vents instead of pillar vents, and they also had vertical defroster elements in the glass on the rear hatch. Very rare. Silver with black trim. Good shape for a 45 year old car. Does need rings (uses some oil). All gauges work. Horn does not work. Original power antenna works. Very little rust. Needs glove compartment door. Needs a battery mount. I will add some more photos tomorrow (December 2) including more details in the motor and passenger compartments. I have had some recent restoration work done at Corbetts Auto in Charlotte.Landcruiser brakes conversion. Dual carbs, 2.8 liter engine. Larger engine than other 240's with the light vehicle weight. Less than 30,000 miles since I purchased it in 2001. Floorboards and fenders are rust free. Undercoated in '03 when painted silver. Can supply more pics.”
