This car was bought new by my bother in 1973. I have had it for about 10 years with plans to restore it in his memory. I drove it regularly for a few years and parked it in the garage and then only drove it on nice days. The original motor and trans were replaced with a 280Z L4 engine and a 5 speed transmission. It starts great, runs good. It has a ton of miles on it but has been keep up very well. I have lots of the original receipts. Overall this is a good car with good bones. It could be restored easily. There are a lot of little things that needs addressed. Basically it just needs a lot of TLC.
As far as rust goes, it's a 43 year old car in the Pacific Northwest. Over all it is in great shape because it has been garaged most its life. Undercarriage is very good shape. Here is what I see the major rust areas:
-Passenger side door post by window and floor board (see pic)
-Both floor pans would benefit by being replaced. (Driver side has a small hole, I haven't taken off the undercoat to see how bad. Passenger side has been filled with bondo.
-Small area driver door and top right fender.(See pic)
-Battery compartment not too bad (See pic)
-Back above taillights has some rust and has had some repair. (see pic)
Motor runs good and is very tight. No oil leaks. Twin SU carbs. Carbs do need some work. It starts right up and drives good, but runs rich. Tires are like new. Brakes are fair. The windshield is cracked but does not leak. Interior is in fair to poor condition. Dash board is perfect no cracks. It needs all new underlayment and carpet. Seats could be redone. All gauges work except Tachometer and clock.
