1960 Desoto Adventurer 2 Door Hardtop
1 of 684 Canadian Built 1960 Adventurer 2 door hardtops Produced
Over the last 30 some odd years, I have owned many Forward Look Chrysler product cars. But, none better, or more rarer than this one. A former prestigious National Desoto Club first, and second place show winner (fully documented), it has been honored and featured in such publications as Collectible Automobile Magazine, Cars of The Sizzling 60’s, Cars of the Last 100 years, Old Autos Magazine (front cover feature car), as well as Feature Car on The Jay Leno's Garage webpage. I am the third owner, for which it was sold new in Windsor Ontario, Canada. I’ll list all the details openly about the car, and I will gladly answer any additional questions via email.. I’ll start off by saying that this 60 Adventurer is as nice as I've seen, but is not a perfect concours car, and from my experience not many are. As the pictures show, it has the normal patina of a 20+ year old restoration. I’ll upload as many pictures as I can, illustrating as many details as I can, but specific pics can be requested. Here go’s

Overall Condition (Pro’s and Cons):
The exterior has only been done one time and is straight with a finish you could walk into. The fenders are 100% rust free, never patched, as was typical of many Forward Look cars of this era. This fact speaks volumes to the cars overall condition. There is some light blistering on the tail light under pan which as you can see in the pics is hardly noticeable. Although in excellent condition for its age, the paint does have a few minor chips here and there, but nothing major. The chrome is nearly flawless having been re-done as part of the cars restoration. The same being said, the stainless was also machine polished and is as close to perfect as I’ve seen. The wheels and tires are in good overall condition. But, if I was planning any interstate freeway driving, I would budget in a set of radials. For the purists like me out there, I love the feel of the vintage bias ply’s. But no argument here against radials. Just sayin. All 5 factory Desoto hubcaps are in exceptional condition (nearly flawless). The interior is completely original, with the exception of the carpet, and is in near perfect condition. The dash pad needs refurbishing as it shows some warpage due to its age. Just Dashes says they can handle it for right around 450.00. The original unrestored steering wheel has one very minor and nearly unnoticeable hairline crack, but is in otherwise perfect condition. The trunk lip (as often rotted on Desoto/Chrysler’s) is excellent having never been patched or repaired. The trunk floor is original rust free, never patched as is the floor pans and undercarriage. The trunk has the factory grey panelboard side panels, with the original jack instructions which are in excellent condition. It is in need of a new trunk mat. There is a 5th matching spare tire in the trunk complete with original jack. The beautiful original 60 Adventurer tail lights (not repops) are complete with all 6 factory chevrons. I’ll let the pictures say the rest.
