Still in the barn and ready for a new owner! This very well preserved 1950 DeSoto Custom is a great find. Owned by the same family since 1975. They purchased the car from the original owner. The engine was rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted in the late 70's and the family drove it until 1995 when it was parked for a 12 volt conversion. The conversion was never finished and the car has sat in its little cove ever since. The car is rust free and the body is extremely straight with the exception of 3 small dents on the drivers side rear fender (2 on the fender and one just above), and a small dent in the right rear bumper guard. Excellent condition chrome, even the hubcaps are still nice. The original interior is also very well preserved with a nice dash, solid seat underpinnings, and very straight and solid metal throughout, including very solid floors. All of the glass is good except the rear passenger side door glass is broken. You have 2 excellent options with this car. This would be an easy restore due the well preserved nature of the car. Or you could clean it, polish the chrome, polish the paint, replace one piece of glass, finish the 12 volt conversion, tune up, (recover seats or put on seat covers?), put some new tires on and you have a nice classic driver. Or do the latter and do a full restore later while the value continues to rise. This car ran fine when parked but has sat a while so it will probably need some work such as tune up, etc but should run fine with many miles left since it was not driven a lot since being rebuilt. The engine does turn freely and easily. Wow, we have all heard and read about the super rare and mystical barn find. Now it is your turn to find and buy one! And at a reasonable price. And this one is not a complete and total basket case like so many. We wanted someone to have the opportunity to see and purchase this beautiful classic DeSoto just as she sits.
