1956 DeSoto Fireflite 4-dr. sedan

DeSoto Fireflite 4-dr. sedan (1956)
for sale

Price: US $200.00

Description:

Selling this for a friend with no computer. This is his 1956 Desoto Fireflite. The car was bought new in Dallas, Texas and is located in Savoy, Texas now, about 75 miles northeast of Dallas. The car has no rust that I can see, but I have not crawled underneath to look at every square inch. What I can see looks good and solid. Since it has been in this area of north central Texas since new, I do not expect to find any rust. It does have pitted tail light panels and the exterior die-cast emblems also have pitting. The car has a running 330 Hemi V-8 with a new 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor. The owner thinks there is a vacuum leak around the carb. A lot of work has been done to this car recently: New interior door panels, carpet, headliner, and seat upholstery; new trunk interior lining; four new tires with 0 miles on them; new electric fuel pump; new dual exhaust system; new water pump; new paint (could stand to be buffed out or wet-sanded for a deeper shine); new brakes and wheel cylinders, rebuilt master cylinder, fuel tank has been taken out and relined; all glass was removed when car was repainted with new window channel and new windshield seal; new back glass seal; new weatherstrip around the doors; new weatherstrip around the trunk opening. The car is loaded with options, including power steering, power brakes, two-speed push-button automatic transmission (okay, I don't think that was an option on the Fireflite series); 4-way power seat; AM radio, electric clock; two-tone paint; bolt-on wire wheel covers with Desoto centers; and factory air-conditioning in the trunk. The owner has never touched the A/C, so we don't know if it works--assume it does not. Also included, but not on the car, is the original Hi-Way Hi-Fi record player, which was a very rare option on Chrysler products of this era, and one record for it is included. Several thousand dollars have been spent on the interior of this car, and it is nice. The odometer shows 88, 000 miles, which we believe is the actual mileage. I have been aware of this car for about 30 years, and it was in storage for all of that time, under a carport. Previous owner's sister-in-law was the original owner. There is an extra rear bumper that goes with the car, if buyer wants it.
More than anything, this car needs to be driven, given some fresh gas, and little kinks like the carburetor vacuum leak fixed. It will start up and drive onto a trailer, but you probably should not plan on driving it home, although it might be fine, it just hasn't been driven any distance in many years. The seller is getting up in years and needs to cut down on the number of old cars he has. He also has a 1941 Buick Special 4-dr. sedan for sale. This car is about 30 miles away from me, so I will attempt to answer any questions, but I cannot just walk over and get more photos of it. I will give out the owner's phone number if you wish to talk to him, but I am not posting it for the whole world to see, so ask me for it.
Bidders with 0 feedback and 0 experience will have their bids cancelled by me, unless you can assure me that you are serious and you know how Ebay works. If you win the auction, that is not the time to come see the car to see if you want to go through with the purchase or not. Do that BEFORE the auction ends. Do not bid unless you have permission from whomever you need to ask, if you can buy another car. Do not bid unless you can pay for it. I expect a $500 down payment via PayPal within 48 hours of the auction's end, and full payment within 10 days of auction's end. Failure to comply with either one of these conditions will forfeit the sale and the car will be offered to the runner up bidder. If the car does not meet the reserve price, owner will consider the high bid. I have this car advertised elsewhere, so I reserve the right to cancel this listing if the car is sold through other channels. The reserve price is over $10, 000 and well under $20, 000. Please do not ask--this is an auction. Thank you for your interest in this nice old Desoto.
For an additional cost of $600, I will haul this car to the overseas docks in or near Houston, Texas if the buyer is overseas.
