DeSoto S-1 deluxe Airstreams for 1936 enjoyed great success , because of changes for 1936 included a lowered chassis by one inch and a longer wheelbase this model was available only for one year. A metal roof insert replaced the soft inserts of earlier cars. A 93 hp version of the reliable and peppy Chrysler Corp six continued to power the 1936 cars. Independent front suspension and 4 wheel hydraulic brakes system made the cars a pleasure to drive. 1936 DeSoto Airstream Business coupe was the first coupe styles to have a deck lid extending down to the bumper level, providing full access to the trunk compartment which is still all original and N.O.S. . The spare tire inside, mounted vertically behind the single 2-passenger seat. Factory optional rear wheel skirts further accent the coups clean lines and are with the car . The car is well preserved condition and is fully operational. brake, fuel and cooling system are original and working . A new plastic steel fuel tank has been installed. Clear title. Brief outline of restoration work performed: New Paint in 2011 , New Interior 2012 *Fuel system - New plastic fuel tank and lines. *Brakes - Master cylinder rebuilt, wheel cylinders and shoes replaced, *Wiring - New wires, Starter replaced. *Engine - Cylinder head repaired and refinished by the former owner prior to my ownership.
