Description:

1956 De Soto two door hardtop. I bought the car down in Tucson Arizona about nine years ago. It has been sitting on a lift in my garage since. I don't know the history of the car before that except that it has a dealer plaque on the back from Cedar Rapids Iowa. It had Illinois plates on it when I got it. I drove the car up on my trailer and off again, and into my shop. The motor appears to have been rebuilt but has a knock in it that I think may be a rod. Real typical of these motors. The transmission is a two speed auto shifted by buttons that worked find but leaked like a siv. By the looks of the drain pan I had underneath it, I would say just about all the fluid leaked out during it's storage. The car is not an Arizona car. It is from the Midwest so there are some rust issues to deal with but it was heavily undercoated many years ago so the floors are very solid. I ran a refrigerator magnet over it and found filler in both quarter panels and one rocker but I think if you know metal work that this will be a routine repair. The frame is good except an area after the left rear shackle, between the shackle and the rear of the car that will need attention (see pictures). As many of you know, I am re listing the car. I try to accurately describe anything I put on -e-bay to the point that I probably make things sound worse than they are. This may be the case regarding the frame on this car. I could find no other damage on the frame except that that I have noted. I believe that this would not be a tough repair. The damage is not on a weight barring portion of the car since it is after the rear shackle mounting area. This is a very complete car. right down to the stock air cleaner. I would say 95%. In the pictures you may note that there is a piece missing out of the trim piece on the left front fender. I have the replacement for that and it goes with the car. Surprisingly all tail light lenses are present. The right rear back up lens is crazed but not broken. The rest are very nice. The right side door glass is cracked but the rest of the glass is fine including the windshield and back glass. This is a Seville which was an entry level model. It came with rubber mats rather than carpeting which is still present. It also did not come with a radio. Someone has installed an aftermarket radio but they didn't damage the dash. I have the original radio block out plate. The car has power brakes which work fine. I have a clear Arizona title in my possession. I have eleven collector cars, some needing restoration or building and I have come to the conclusion that I am too damn old to do them all. I will consider trades and cash as long as there is a good chance I can flip what ever I am trading for. The car is sold as is where is. Shipping is up to the buyer but I will make myself available for loading when needed. I would like a 500.00 down payment via pay pal at auctions end and the rest in cash at the time of pickup. If you are going to take awhile to pick the care up, I would like payment if full with in ten days. Please feel free to come check out the car. I am located approximately seventeen miles west of Flagstaff, Arizona just off I-40. You may contact me at 520-560-3985. No text messages please. I won't respond to them. I hate to say this but please, no scamers. My response will be very rude. To the rest of the great e-bayers out there, thanks for taking a look.
