1972 340 DODGE DEMON
Rare and Exceptional, this factory Winchester Grey 340 4-Speed Demon is in the final stages of a full blown rotisserie restoration. The engine build date is just 2 weeks away from the assembly date, but is not matching numbers. However, the 4-speed transmission is matching numbers and I have a partial build sheet which documents most of the factory options including rear defogger, AM/FM radio, HURST 4-speed, deluxe trim, etc. Virtually every interior item was restored to like new condition including dash pad, gauges, seat covers seat foam, headliner, carpet, door panels, heater box, mint AM/FM radio, steering column and tuff wheel. The engine is a correct date coded 1972 mill that has received a complete professional rebuild from top to bottom including steel crank and rods, It is also equipped with the ultra-rare high compression “X” heads with 2.02 valves which probably came from a 1970 engine. These are the most sought after Mopar Small Block heads ever casted. Holley carb, Edelbrock intake, Milodon oil pan, and spun aluminum pullies completes the package. The body still wears all of its original sheet metal, and was taken down to bare metal before applying a 2-stage base coat, clear coat paint system. The underside is clean, painted and looks exception. I estimate that this amazing 4-speed Demon will only require two good weekends to complete, and virtually all parts to finish the project are included except for the clutch, and a few other small odds and ends. The shifter mechanism has been rebuilt and the Hurst handle was restored to like new. Included is a new 2 ½ inch exhaust system, complete with hangers and new ceramic coated Headmen headers.
What remains to be completed are:
Install front and back glass and trim (glass, trim and seals are included).Supply clutch and drop in engine and trans, then connect driveshaft. All clutch parts are there including bell housing, flywheel, clutch lever and z-bar. Also rebuilt factory shifter.Connect prewired engine harness, and install radiator (included).Install front grill, headlights and bezels (included).Install front bumper (included).New in-the-box brake and steering components are also supplied.
That’s about it. A person with good mechanical skills can get this car on the road in no time flat.
