1996 Dodge Neon ACR Coupe
This is a real, unmodified Neon Competition Package Coupe with the 2.0 DOHC engine that I have owned since new! Anyone looking at this is probably already familiar with these cars, but here is a quick overview: These were factory built race cars meant for SCCA competition. They were base neons without any special badging, factory equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes without anti-lock, 14 Aluminum wheels, Competition Suspension, quick ratio steering, close ratio 5-speed manual trans and unlimited engine speed controller. Very few of these factory race cars were made and they are very hard to find today, especially in unmodified condition.
Until recently this car was still my daily driver, and has racked up 196K miles. I have owned it since new, and it has never been crashed. The body is very straight, the worst part is a rust bubble over the left rear wheel well (see pictures). It still wears its factory paint job, but the clear coat is lifting and it could really use a re-paint. The interior is in excellent condition. The car still runs and drives, but it leaks oil and the clutch cable should be replaced. The drivetrain is all original with the 2.0 DOHC engine and close ratio 5-speed manual trans. The only options on the car other than the competition package are A/C, rear defrost and AM/FM radio. I installed an aftermarket stereo (nothing was cut-up), but the original radio & speakers go with the car. The A/C runs but needs a recharge.
I did have to replace the struts a few years ago with KYB gas struts. I still have the factory Arvin struts that I took off, and they go with the car. I replaced the headlights recently with new OEM's, so they are nice and clear. The tires are also in good shape. The gauges sometimes cut out, which is typical on a first generation neon. I also have the window sticker, owners manual, neon racing warranty book and unopened VHS owner video which go with the car.
The car does run and drive and is OK for short trips, but if you are traveling any distance, I would recommend bringing a trailer to take it home.
The car must be picked up at my location in North East Pennsylvania and paid for in cash. The title must be transferred before the car leaves. I would like for it to be picked up on or before July 7th.
