The first new car I ever bought. I was hoping to make 500, 000 miles. At 450, 000 the oil pressure light began to come on when the engine was at operating temperature so I parked her with the plan for an engine rebuild. I would start her up and drive a bit on the property every now and then. Last week the engine burbled and died like it was out of gas. I think it's a fuel pump failure. After being off the road for 5 years, it's become obvious that I'm never going to get around to doing a rebuild. So I'm offering her up to the highest bidder.
We had a lot of fun covering those 450, 000 miles. I bought her as a dual duty daily driver/autocross car. She took me to numerous autocross wins and we were a great combination in Rallycross. In fact we were Rallycross National Champions in 2008. She only had 390, 000 miles on her back then. I would drive her to the autocross/rallycross, compete (frequently for the class win) and drive home with the A/C on getting 32 MPG.
The R/T package had a few bits that made it more sporting than the regular Neon. A close ratio transmission, stiffer springs and shocks, a quicker steering ratio, DOHC engine and sport seats. Along with some cosmetic items like the stripes, spoiler, wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter.
She's all there. Ready to be rebuilt and return to competition or be a fun commuter that gets over 30 MPG. She would be a great father/son project or basis for a Lemons/Chumpcar/GRM $2016 Challenge.
Not currently drivable as she's not registered and will not start. Bring a trailer or arrange for shipping/tow. Oh, yeah the roof rack comes with it!
