Up for bidding is my 1983 Dodge 400 convertible. I planned on having this car until the day I die but life has gotten in the way. I'm the second owner. It's been garage kept since day one of it's life, has never seen a winter, never driven in the salt, never been crashed, and has always been loved every day of it's life. The car has only traveled 74, 200 miles over 32 years. It's in very very good shape. I have the original VIP keychain, the original window sticker, the original warranty booklet, original owner's manual, and even the original brochure.
Recently it was given some new parts. It has a new timing belt, new (rebuilt) carburetor, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new distributor cap, new distributor rotor, new PCV valve, new PCV valve grommet, a few new vacuum lines, a Pioneer CD/USB/Aux in radio, used Chrysler Infinity dash speakers from a low mileage LHS, a new radiator, and a new alternator belt. Two years ago it had some exhaust work done. Three years ago it had new front brake pads and calipers installed as well as a new voltage regulator and battery.
This car was the more basic model... manually operated windows and door locks, no air conditioner, no cruise control, and originally it had no radio. The dealer installed radio shown in the pictures was dying so I installed a Pioneer cd player. The dealer installed radio is included with the car. The car does have power steering, power operated convertible top, intermittent wipers, and whitewall tires which are all in excellent shape. It's been pretty reliable for how old it is, and I personally trust it to get wherever it needs to go. The new carb really helped make it start easier.
The car has three issues. One, the rear view mirror on the inside needs to be reattached. The mirror is included. Two, the plastic rear window has cracked and should be replaced if you want to drive the car with the roof up. The roof itself is in good shape but it is original so I normally just leave it down all the time with the boot on. Three, the driver seat does have a little bit of wear on the outside bolster... nothing serious though.
The ONLY reason the car is up for sale is because my daughter is in a bad situation and I need the money to help her. More info about that can be found here if you care to see what's going on. She's number #1 in my life and this car is #2... It breaks my heart to see it go but anything I can do to help my daughter I will do. I do want it to go to a good home where it will be loved and cared for as it has been it's whole life.
Of course, with all that said, it IS a 32 year old car so there is no warranty. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours of winning the auction. Car needs to be picked up within 7 days unless arrangements are made. Please, no zero feedback bidders or bull... it hurts enough to do this... I don't think I can do it again. Please note, the vehicle is listed locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any point necessary. Thanks for helping my daughter.
