Up for sale is a very well cared for two owner factory stock 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with the 12 Valve Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. It's the extended cab long bed with the rare Laramie SLT Edition that has factory leather. This truck has 158, 900 original miles and runs as it should. It has been maintained and serviced religiously throughout its life. The truck just had a full inspection last week. The automatic transmission was serviced with new fluid, filters, and band adjustment. The rear differential and the transfer case were also serviced. The rear end is the 3.55 which means this truck will actually cruise down the highway at any speed you'd like while getting even better MPG.
It's a 20 year old 3/4 ton diesel truck so of course it isn't perfect. It has all the normal dings, chips, scratches and paint fade but no major dents or damage other than the front bumper being slightly dented/pushed in as seen in pics. It has NEVER been hit or in any accidents. The truck has a clean CarFax to prove it. I am being completely honest and nitpicking in describing this truck so there are no surprises. There is absolutely NO RUST in the panels of this truck. There is a very small area of just surface rust where the clear coat has come off above the driver door. Like every one of these older Dodges the paint is starting to fade in areas. You would not believe how spotless the motor and the undercarriage are. They are both unbelievably clean with no leaks! This truck was used and driven by an elderly gentleman to tow a trailer for leisurely summer camping. The RBW Industries 5th wheel is staying with the truck. The bed has been spray lined with AMERIGUARD which is better than the rest. The bed is also covered with an expensive color matched fiberglass tonneau cover that needs the hydraulic gas/shocks replaced. The truck needs new tires but I understand everybody has their favorite brand so I'll leave that up to you.
The interior is in amazing condition but like most has its quirks. The two trim pieces from the doors have fallen off, there is a hole in the middle jump seat and the driver seat has split at the seam. The leather is weather cracked from being 20 years old and would really benefit from a good conditioner. There is a set of BANKS pilar mounted gauges to monitor your Trans Temp, Exhaust Temp, and Boost. The dash has been covered since new but there is a tiny hairline crack by the vent. There is a nice set of Husky floor liners covering the carpet. The truck still has the original auto transmission that has been taken care of and serviced consistently throughout the life of the truck. The parking brake needs to be fixed and the ABS/Brake light is illuminated. A sensor may need to be replaced. I just put in a brand new $150 battery.
All in all this 97 12 valve is as solid as they come and better than most you will ever see. Not perfect but the next owner is going to be very lucky and the sky is the limit on how nice you want to make this one. Please ask any and all questions so you know what you are buying.
