Up for sale is this 1958 Edsel Ranger 2 door sedan with an interesting documented history with picture. According to the Edsel archives this car was a grocery store chain give a way car and comes complete with a picture of the lucky winner and this car, how cool is that. The car remained with that family until 1976 and was then purchased by a family friend who owned the car until 2011 when he sold it to an Ohio man and we bought it from him. The car is a very early Louisville production car built in late July 1957. It is one of the very few Edsel's with an automatic transmission gear selector on the column, rather than the problematic tele touch push button. The #3 stamped on the data code plate under trans verify's it is original and not a Mercury steering column transplant. It has the original 361 V8, radio delete, courtesy lights, clock, and did have a factory tach that was replaced with an aftermarket one and electric wipers have been installed. No power steering and brakes, dog dish hub caps and black wall tires. The gentleman I bought this car from drove it everywhere. The car has went to Tenn, Illinois, and Louisville all from central Ohio with out a hitch. Now for the condition of the car. The car was repainted but not sure when, paint is amateur but slick and shiny but has runs. It's a good 10 footer. I just installed a new dual exhaust, from the manifolds back complete with glass packs and chrome exhaust tips. The water pump is noisy but I have a brand new one from Mac's and new hoses and belts.(not installed). There is a small exhaust leak at the manifold on one side, the generator was replaced with an alternator but I do have the generator. Front bumper looks to have been re-chromed as does the horse collar grill and are very nice. The rest of the stainless and chrome appear to be the original and are in very nice condition. The previous owner had installed a couple of white lights on the back and I removed them so there are 4 small holes with screws in them. Headliner is very nice as are the door panels and the seats were recently redone and are very nice and firm and the floor is covered with the original Edsel rubber floor mat. The trunk has no mat but is clean with dyna-mat. Tires are marginal but okay. From the bottom side the trunk floor tire, well are super clean with no rust. The right rear floor pan has a patch where the rear passengers feet would be. Frame is nice as is the sheet metal on the car. Glass is very good and all windows work like they should. This car runs, drives and shifts great needing only a few things as mentioned. A great Edsel to drive while you make it better without breaking the bank. Nice documented history included with car. Clean clear title in my name in hand. Odometer shows 63, xxx miles verified by previous owners documentation however mileage is exempt due to Iowa classic car laws, I guess.Conditions of the sale are as follows, $1000.00 deposit via paypal immediately at sale close with the balance due by wire transfer or cash in person within 72 hours of close of sale, NO EXCEPTIONS !!!!
