Ferrari 328 (1987)

Price: US $75,000.00
My name is Todd Spruell. I’m representing this very nice 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS Spider (6, 068 total production), for a longtime friend and fellow Alfa Romeo enthusiast. PRIVATE SALE. I grew up in the Alfa Romeo business my entire life. I've bought and sold many Alfa's and was the top Alfa Romeo salesman in North America from 1991-95, at Paul Spruell Alfa, Inc.. My reputation for representing cars is excellent.
So PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION, before asking any questions. The seller and I are representing this car the right way. Our intent is for the buyer to be completely informed about its history, mechanical and cosmetic condition. In my care, the 260 HP, 3.2 liter, 32 valve V8 has always started on the first attempt. Even when it’s 30 degrees. It idles smoothly and after a few minutes, it settles down to a nice low tone. No smoke. It runs strong through all of the gears. The BF Goodrich G-Force Sports (purchased June 2012) ride pretty well, considering the frequency of driving. They show no signs of rot and have plenty of tread. Rear size is 255/30/16. Front 205/55/16. This Rosso Red (racing red) with tan leather beauty is a solid, straight and well documented three owner car with 58, 319 miles. The miles and location are documented via a clean CARFAX that corresponds with the records (see pictures). The current owner bought it from the renowned Ferrari dealer/expert, and Ferrari Market Letter contributor Steve Ahlgrim. Please read Steve’s notes from November 2000. It summarizes the cars condition and history, with just under 50, 000 miles, when it was traded in at Hennesey Jaguar. Despite the “clean” CARFAX, a catalytic converter fire is documented from May 1999. $11, 700.00 fixed it very well (see pictures for documentation). Steve had dings removed and had Bo Pirkle do a little paintwork on the front. The owners notes at the bottom of the same vehicle log, document the interior restoration and maintenance in 2001. The last major service was performed in May 2005 by Todd Rice. A reputable (meticulous) Fiat, Lancia, Ferrari technician. I recently took the car to Ferrari of Atlanta and requested a complete and thorough inspection at a cost of $600, to provide the future owner with what the car needs to be “perfect”. Please read their 308/328 experts notes. (see pictures) Everyone at the dealership commented on how nice the car is. Apparently it’s hard to find them in this condition. To summarize the mechanical inspection, we know it has a slow oil leak(s). I did notice the slightly stiff shifting, when it was cold. Apparently it’s allowing a little bit of engine oil in the gearbox. So, I would recommend changing the gear oil, if you don’t plan to repair the leak right now. Despite the poor cold start claim. . it started right up on a cold day for me. On the headlight switch... it works well enough to drive around, but no hi beams. The only thing that surprised us, was the left heater core leaking (I think this was the first year for dual climate control). No leak had been detected, prior to our visit to the dealer. Ironically, it has now become obvious and needs to be addressed (about $1000 at dealer). The bottom line from the service writer at the dealer is, you could spend $10-12, 000 taking care of the complete list. Or do the basics and keep on driving it.
Please note that this estimate was taken into account, when setting the price for the car. The seller would prefer a clean AS IS deal, but would consider coordinating repair (particularly the new coolant leak) as part of the deal.
Speaking to the cosmetic condition of the car, I will simply say that it has a light patina, but nothing that stands out. I have many detailed pictures available by request. They will speak for themselves. Includes books/manuals/brochure, records, spares keys (matching locks), floor mats, original MSRP sticker, spare wheel, jack and all tools. The car was also professionally appraised by Don Peterson back in December of 2000 (less than 10, 000 miles ago). See pictures for appraisal. $1000 deposit will be due immediately upon purchase or wining bid. Full payment within one week. We will assist with transportation, but you will have to make arrangements. Car is located in Norcross GA. Reasonable temporary storage may be arranged, if car is paid for. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Todd Spruell 678 665-1997
