Up sale here is my 97 Ferrari F355 Spider. It's been the greatest car I've ever owned but it is unfortunately time for me to part with it.
So here's the good. It's a Ferrari 355 the greatest sounding Ferrari ever built with that F1 wail. This one has a set of Fabspeed headers (OEM headers are common failure item that you won't have to worry about), Empty/gutted converters, and a Newer style TUBI exhaust.
The car runs flawlessly, The last time I took it out it was for a 450 mile round trip that it performed perfectly on. It's never once let me down.
The car has in the last 6K miles new tires and a new clutch. In the last 5K miles new brake rotors and pads, also I completely rebuilt the e-brakes with new parts I just installed a brand new canvas top last spring. It has the rare dealer option 3 piece Speedline rims. The interior is in great shape, it has a MACarbon steering wheel with a yellow stripe and yellow stitching. Its very nice and wasn't cheap. The dash has no shrinkage and there is little wear on the seats. The only real issue is that the stickys need to be done. I've been meaning to do them for the last 4 years but it wasn't stopping me from enjoying the car so I never got to them. A/c and heater, windows, etc etc all works as it should. It has a stereo in it that has a 12 disk changer and an amp and sub up in the trunk. The stereo doesn't really impress me and I'm not sure if the sub is working but you will just want to listen to the exhaust and the clickity, clack of the gated shifter.
Most people won't try to get as detailed as me about the bad things with a car they are trying to sell but most of them have the same issues you just get surprised by them after you buy. I'm afraid of sounding to negative because all in all this is an awesome average driver car that I love but it ain't no garage queen.
First it is due for a major service. I was planning to do this myself at home but once I knew I was going to have to sell it I decided I would let the new owner decide what they wanted to do with it. Many people like to start off with a car overseeing what gets done to it. So it's due for one.
All the books and records were lost by the dealership I bought it from but I have a full set of books and a window sticker from another yellow 97 spider, just has a different VIN on the sticker.
The car looks great from a few feet and is beautiful but if you take a minute to really look the paint has a lot of chips all over and the car is about ready for a full respray if you want a show car, the front bumper needs a fiberglass work at that time. I never worried about it because I wanted a car I could driver around rural Montana and not have to worry so much.
When I changed the steering wheel I forgot to unhook the battery so the airbag light is on. It needs to be reset with an SDX computer.
I put a new canvas top on but I have not replaced the elastic straps, and the frame needs a little adjustment to make the forks catch right. Do a little research and you will find the top was Ferraris first attempt at a power top and it is a over engineered pile of crap and has issues on most 355s. they are easy to convert to manual though. This one all function correctly though, the computer runs the sequence, the pump works, everything moves right, etc. It just needs a new release handle, 10 cent straps and a little adjustment. I might try to find time to get this all sorted before its sold.
The windshield is tinted, which looks good and I have never had any trouble with the law on it in 4 years but there is a spot where the previous owner cut a section out to put the emissions sticker on so it looks poorly there and you probably want to peal it off.
The price of these cars has been skyrocketing in the last year or so and I with I could hang onto it but I've got a pile of medical bills I have to take care of so I have to let it go. All of these small issues and the major service are more then reflected in the price. A little time an TLC with this car and you will have a car to rival them all.
