The Testarossa (Red-Head for the red painted cam-covers) was unveiled by Ferrari at the 1984 Paris Auto Show as the successor to the 512-Berlinetta Boxer. A number of improvements went into production on the Testarossa resulting in improved weight distribution (40/60), increased cabin and storage room, and functional side ventilation to cool the now rear-mounted twin radiators. After ensuring that the engine would not overheat, this ducted air then left the vehicle through the vented engine-lid to spoil aerodynamic lift, allowing the car's top speed of 180mph without an ungainly rear-mounted wing.
