Fiat 500 F (1968)

Price: US $5,750.00
Price: US $5,750.00
This vehicle was purchased in 2009 in Newport Beach, CA, from the original importer of the vehicle from Italy. It's been garage kept since arriving in the US around 2004. In 2013, it was shipped across the country to New Jersey where it currently resides. The vehicle has been well loved and maintained and has been kept completely original with two exceptions due to safety (tire replacement and brake conversion). The classic 500 is beautiful in its simplicity and is a great first car for a budding vehicle collector. This particular 500 is no exception.

Mechanical Condition and Details:
Engine:
Once the key is turned, the engine starts right up using the original floor
mounted starter switch. It has an adjustable choke to help control fuel flow on start-up. When started, the engine runs smoothly. A video is available showing the start up of the engine (please email and request).
Transmission:
The 4-speed transmission is in good shape. The shifter eases into
gear without any issues.
Brakes:
A disc brake conversion was completed in 2011 to improve the vehicle's safety and stopping distance. Now it stops wonderfully.
Suspension:
Rides well considering all components are original and is extremely enjoyable to drive. Great car to cruise around town and can get up to 55 mph (though not recommended for the highway) as originally specified by the factory.
Steering:
Steering is smooth and responsive. It does not have power steering so it won't feel like your daily driver.
Electrical:
Low and high beams work great, The turn signals are not currently functional.
Exterior Condition:
Paint and Body:
The paint is original from 1968. There is a slight dullness on the top half of the vehicle from all of the years in the hot Italian sun which adds to it's nearly 50 year old charm. There are some superficial scratches/chips, a dent in the front passenger side fender and a smaller dent in the front driver's side fender. The paint has started to peel in one spot on the hood of the car. The car does contain small rust spots in typical locations. Images of all imperfections are available via email.
Tires:
Tires were imported brand new from Italy and replaced within the past year. Tires also have whitewall inserts to give a classic look. There are no vibrations or flat spots on these new tires and given the low mileage expected, should last the rest of the car's life.
Bumpers:
Look great with no flaws or dents.
Windows and gaskets:
All glass is original and there are some surface scratches on the windshield from before the vehicle was imported. The gaskets are also original and despite being aged rubber, the vehicle is surprisingly air and water tight. Water will generally only escape through the rag top when being washed with a hose.
Soft top:
Soft top is in great condition and opens and closes easily.
Interior Condition:
Seats:
The interior is completely original and the car has the original seats. There is a large tear along the bottom, rear seat edge where it meets the seat back. Rear bench seat is in great shape and has been covered to protect the seats from wear.
Door panels:
Inserts are beige and in great shape. All window cranks and locks work well.
Steering wheel:
Wheel and horn are in great condition.
Floors/Carpets:
The rubber floor is in great shape and is very clean given the age. The original mats for the driver and passenger side are included and are black/beige.
Accessories:
Vehicle includes the original tool kit (though some tools appear to be missing), spare tire, and vehicle jack. Also included is a photocopy of the original manual in Italian, additional maintenance guides and books I've picked up over the years, and any spare parts I've been keeping just in case (gasket kit, new fuel filter).
Standard Disclaimer:
The
car is sold with no warranty and is used. While it runs remarkably well, it is still 47 years old, shows signs of age and use, and will require maintenance. It is being sold by the owner directly (I am not a dealer). Therefore, this will not be considered a showroom level vehicle so please adjust your expectation level. Please only bid if you intend to buy. If you
would like to have an eBay 3rd party mechanic check out the car at my garage, I am more than willing to permit. Please have the car inspected before bidding if you intend to use that service and contact me as soon as possible to arrange. Also, please check your local laws and
registration procedures before purchasing. I have purchased vehicles via the internet as well so I'm aware of the reservations and risk involved. For
that very reason, feel free to reach out with any question you may have so you know what you are buying. All sales are final, you are buying as-is. Shipping via vehicle transporter is available at buyer's expense.
