Fiat 124 Spider 1600 BS1 with 76, 000 original miles. The gentleman
before me took really good care of the car, some panels have I
believe original paint on them. Last month, my neighbor bumped the
car while it was parked on the side of the street. Last week someone
broke the right mirror on this car. I have the car parked on the
streets, since I do not have a garage. This car drives and runs like
a clock...I drove it to Richmond and back to VA Beach...300 miles
both ways. I work in Norfolk and I have driven the car to work and
back home without any problems. The car comes with a trunk full of
parts for this car. All the gauges work, except the clock...there is
an extra clock that has a label “working” in the trunk. There is
small tear in the passenger seat, the bumper dent, chrome bumper small peel, small paint bubble on the right fender, battery holder rusted from the acid spill-looks like...more issues can be seen in the photos. This is a great looking car that needs minimal TLC, for $5000 you can buy nothing on craigslist and here we have a piece of history for that amount.
Not
many of these left, especially in this condition. The body of the car
was designed and marketed by Pininfarina. The convertible body was
designed by Tom Tjaarda, who used his earlier designs of Chevrolet
Corvette “Rondine” and Ferrari 275 GTS. The four-cylinder engine
used in this Spider has a double overhead cam, 1608cc and it has
4-disc brakes. The Fiat Twin Cam engine was designed by Aurelio
Lampredi. For
those looking for a more vintage car with less obtrusive bumpers, the
1971 to 1972 cars have the looks, plus the best performance of any of
the carbureted cars. If you research this year of Spiders you will
see that in Europe they go for over 30, 000 Euros and even here once
they turn 50 will be worth a lot more.
I
am the second owner, the original owner was from Fredericksburg, VA.
I wanted to purchase the '66 Alfa Romeo Graduate, but another person
outbid me instead. The owner had the Fiat, Alfa and that truck from
Jeepers Creeper, the movie for sale at the charity donated auction.
But I am glad I had a chance to drive this amazing 45 year old car.
