1976 Fiat Other

Fiat Other (1976)
for sale

Price: US $500.00

Description:

I have acquired a new German project car that has become a big economic challenge ( i.e. money pit ), so it's time for the little Italian to go.
This Fiat roadster is in outstanding mechanical condition as evidenced by two trouble-free round trips from Nebraska to the West coast during my ownership.
It is a perfect car for someone who wants a strong driver in average but very presentable cosmetic condition.
It is easy to work on and includes many spares and special tools accumulated over the years.
I have owned the car for about 6 years and driven it 14k miles or so.
Over that time period a lot of mechanical work and improvements have been made.
Most recently (less than 500 miles and 18 months)
New Iridium spark plugs
(Pictured are the old ones in just-as-removed condition after about 3000 miles)
New Yokohama S-drive tires with Monza alloy wheels
New Vick Autosports Prima front disc brakes With stainless steel flexes and drilled and slotted performance rotors.
During the previous five years All parts new OEM quality, aftermarket, or rebuilt as noted:
Engine and drive train:
Vick Autosports rebuilt transmission
Rebuilt cylinder head including new stainless steel valves with stem seals and hardened seats
OEM Cam belt idler bearing
OEM steel camshaft drive sprockets,
OEM Crankshaft mounted cam drive gear,
Cam belt has approximately 3000 miles on it
All engine seals including front and rear main seals
Aftermarket water pump and hoses
Crane XP3000 Fireball electronic ignition with high output coil
Genuine Weber 32/28 two-barrel DFEV carburetor
Turbine-style electric fuel pump
Light weight geared starter
95 amp alternator
Clutch, pilot bearing, throw out bearing, pressure plate including flywheel machining
Complete aftermarket exhaust system including headers, all exhaust piping, center and rear muffler
New OEM Lada 3.90 ratio differential pumpkin.
OEM driveshaft flex (guibo) and new u-joints.
Driveshaft straightened and dynamically balanced
OEM front and rear wheel bearings and seals
Brakes, Suspension and steering:
Rebuilt rear calipers with new aftermarket pads, rotors, flexes
New front suspension Aftermarket replacement upper and lower A-arms, ball joints, performance shocks, springs, and sway bar bushings.
New OEM steering box, idler arm, and tie rods
New rear suspension including performance shocks, springs, aftermarket Panhard rod, and trailing arms
Miscellaneous repair and refurbishment:
New custom main fuse box with blade-type fuses
Headlight auxiliary relays
Main radiator and heater heat exchanger boiled clean and painted
Fuel tank boiled clean and lined
Hood hinge reinforced and gas struts installed
Gas struts for trunk lid
Trunk-mounted main electrical cut off
Fuel pump inertia safety switch
Wideband Air Fuel Ratio Meter Used to select jets for Weber carb tuning.
Momo steering wheel with extender
Honda squirrel-cage heater blower Damaged center console was removed and a custom heater/defroster box was installed using a Honda Civic blower.
Not pretty, but vast performance improvement over the anemic stock heater fan.
Tow bar assembly The original plan was to tow it behind an RV but the gas price situation at the time nixed that idea.
The tow crosspiece bolts to the chassis in place of the bumper and the solid towbar attaches to that with hinge pins.
Car with this transmission design should not be flat towed more than 50 miles without disconnecting driveshaft.
Wind block screen
Spares and special tools
air filters
speedo cable
clutch cable
alt belt
timing belt
radiator hoses
wheel bolts
electric fuel pump
Weber carb jets
Special transmission lube
Misc gaskets
Green Stuff front disc brake pads

Caster/camber alignment tool
Light weight low profile aluminum floor jack
Extra McGard lug bolt socket

Brooklands and Haynes Fiat 124 repair manuals
Haynes service manual for Weber carbs
Fiat mechanical parts book
Opportunities for improvement: This car does not have a stereo or radio.
Over the years I tried various combinations of tuners, amps, and subwoofers,
but nothing sounded good with the top down.
So I converted the subwoofer enclosure into a locking storage area behind the seats.
It does not have a driver or passenger side sun visor. I use a removable plexiglas shield/wind deflector on the driver's side. Top cover patch Faded chalky paint and filler on fender and trunk
Tatty switchgear But it all works well! That stylish toggle switch is the hi/low blower control.

“An original 49-state (no catalytic converter) car. It is a mechanically sound honest driver that I would drive anywhere with confidence. It has above average cosmetics for a 39 year old with opportunity to freshen up for an outstanding appearance. It was Ziebarted sometime in its distant past and the only evidence of prior rust is a 6 inch square metal repair under the driver's seat.”
