Price: US $500.00
For Sale because it’s longtime owner prefers traveling to
working on the car and did not want to deal with selling it.
I bought it to sell, and am willing to answer any of your
questions with honest and truthful answers, backed up with detailed photographs
of any part you’d like to see in detail.
The project started 30+ years ago with complete disassembly.
Any rusty spots were properly repaired before a first
quality paint job was completed. The hydraulic system, four calipers, the
master cylinder, clutch cylinders, rotors, pads were sourced at a cost of $2270
plus installation. All of the suspension
bushings, wheel bearings, shocks etc. are new. The engine and accessories were
rebuilt, tuned on the dyno, and installed in front of a new clutch and rebuilt
transmission. A new Hartz cloth top, and complete new interior are on the
car.
You should be able to install the radiator, hoses, connect some wires, install a battery, the NOS mufflers; and be able to drive
it. Then, install the lights, trim
pieces, bumpers and finish the car to a very nice standard.
There are many boxed parts, collected from several other
Dino’s and a 206 Ferrari, so you should not have to buy many parts.
Some of the spares include; a complete engine that was
running when removed from the car, 3 engine blocks, 3 crankshafts, 6 cylinder
heads, 4 oil pans, timing chains, many Weber 40 DCN-14 carburetors, distributors, valve covers, nuts, bolts, a second complete rear axle assembly, and a later
model independent rear suspension. There
is a ZF all aluminum transmission, and an iron case transmission. 10 extra wheels are included. Three Dinoplex
ignition units, a spare windshield frame, a second set of top bows are among
the many extras that are a part of the package.
New parts include 3 sets of pistons with wrist pins and
rings, two dozen Champion N 60Y sparkplugs, a MSD ignition system, a new
windshield, and several sets of engine bearings. We do not have an exact list of all the parts, but you will have many to sell and should be able to recoup a lot of the cost
of the package.
You’ll enjoy finishing this car, and then have a very
nice, completely restored car far below the $150, 000 + current market price.
With Dino Ferrari’s costing three or four times the price
of these and, and very common 911’s selling for as much and more, I’m expecting
these quite rare (1163 produced) Fiat Dino’s will appreciate
substantially.
Best of all; the Ferrari sound, direct shifting gear box, Italian spirit, etc. makes the Fiat Dino a lot more fun to drive than nearly
anything else.
