This 1978 Fiat 124 Convertible has been kept as original as possible except for the exterior paint. The car still has its original all aluminum block power train, transmission and gear box. The shock towers were rebuilt in the late 1980's along with the driver's floor pan. It was originally an Italian Dark Cherry Color provided by Fiat still visible under the trunk lid. The second owner had the car painted a period Corvette Red with clear coat in the early 1980's at which time the original beige cloth top was replaced with a blue cloth top and blue carpet still visible on the pictures provided. The rear window was replaced but the blue cloth top remains. Air induction pump was seized at time of purchase in 1987 and belt removed but pump is still mounted on engine block.
This is a driver's collectible car and has antique plates on it since it qualified as a classic car. The car has an insured value of $8000.00. It was previously listed on ebay on 07/31/2015 but the listing was removed at the end of the auction by ebay on August 04, 2015 due to a non-member's fraudulent bidding.
I am re-listing this wonderful collectible car as a Buy It Now item as advised by ebay to protect my account and reputation. It has been well cared for although it has never had a total off of the chassi restoration it is in very good and serviceable condition. All badging is original. | “This 1978 Fiat 124 Spider Convertible is in excellent mechanical condition. It has the original beige upholstery which shows definite signs of wear for its age on the driver's seat. The remainder of the upholstery is in very good condition. The dash board has a dry rot crack in the center. The wood steering wheel has two stress cracks in the wood from age. This car has been meticulously cared for by the current owner for the past 28 years and has been garage kept under a car cover by the original owner and myself since 1978. Car includes New Tires, Clutch, Fuel Pump (2014), Electronic Ignition, Radiator, New Battery (2014) New car cover is included along with the original Fiat Tool box, Tire Jack, and Battery Cover. This car has been driven less than 2000 miles per year and is currently located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The car is registered and titled in New Jersey.
