I do not want to get rid of this pickup but have too many projects. I bought it hoping to restore it. It sat for 3 years and someone else should enjoy this.
It runs and drives great. It could be a daily driver as is or a great restoration project.
The floor of the bed is very rusty. The cab is solid with no major rust.
All the electrical all works with the exception of the speedometer light.
The 390 was installed before I got it. It was rebuilt and I am not sure how many miles are on it.
The front and back breaks were replaced.
Four wheel drive functions and it has 2 high, 4 high, and 4 low.
The original 292 out of this pickup can go with it . We put it on the motor stand it started right up. I don't remember when they put the 390 in, or at what mileage.
I think it is the original factory 4x4. Its hard to find information on 1959 4x4s. Some say its a 2 wheel drive, some say its a 4 wheel drive, some say its a 6 cyl., and some say its an 8 cyl. It does have the Dana axles and the after market companies were not using Dana axles. Therefore, I believe its a true Ford 4x4. It also has the 17 split rims and 750/17 tires that an original Ford would have.
The floor of the bed is very rusty so I put plywood down so my firewood would not fall through. I drove this pickup as my daily driver for a couple of years. I did not have any problems. I then thought I would try to restore it and never did. After 3 years it needs to go to a better home.
