Price: US $8,500.00
Up for sale is a very solid 1965 Ford Mustang 289 V8 automatic coupe. As most may know the Marti reports start at 1967, so any paperwork or documentation on the 1965 and 1966 cars are critical to their value. In this case the body buck tag is still in place validating the customer order (also stated as a customer ordered car on the buck tag) combination of this beauty. Built in Metuchen NJ on June 18, 1965. The Mustang was ordered and built as a Dynasty Green Metallic exterior with the turquoise and white deluxe pony interior. Sold through the Newark D.S.O. And delivered to the customer as a 289 2V, C-4 automatic transmission, with a 2.80 open 8 inch rear end. As you can see from the pictures, the car really never changed much from the original delivered state. A repaint and wear over the next 50 years is really all that happened and looks to be garage kept for many of those years. We started the restoration and collection of parts, but now have other projects to attended to, this is your chance to pick up when the hard work is done.We purchased this car with the intention to put back to the factory delivered appearance. So you will see we purchased a gallon of the paint and prepped and painted the underside of the trunk to give us a drive in the restoration. The color speaks for itself, and will stand out at any car show you choose to display when completed. As for the body, we found rust in the usual Mustang spots from a northern car. We have both rear frame rails, full quarters, outer wheelhouses, and both floor pans replaced. All work completed to high restoration standards, slight weld prep and ready for bodywork.Interior will need seat covers, carpet, paint, the radio was opened up for a modern radio, we have the replacement metal if you would like to go the route of the original radio.Drive train is complete and appears 100% original to the car. The car starts up and moves under it's own power, shifts and brakes. We have not driven more than around our lot but have had no issues. Sounds great as a 289 should, but an overhaul would be suggested before any road trips.Few new parts to bring up that are included in this sale, new gas cap, woodgrain dash bezel and lens, radio metal repair panel, deluxe door panels (one was started to be installed on another car - should clean up and be fine other is new) front bumper and bumperettes, rear valance (fitted to new quarter panels), gas tank (installed), new muffler and tail pipe, 3/4 gallon new single stage paint, few misc weatherstrip pieces and emblems (as pictured). Overall what a great project - factory V8 Mustang, desirable early body style. Runs and drives now - no surprises see what you have to start with. Solid body - no bondo hidden rust. Very straightforward car with a clear Illinois title. Documented color combo that will stand out in a crowd of red 1965 Mustangs when complete! The car is located in West Dundee IL, we can arrange for inspections, we also have no delivery methods, must be picked up in West Dundee IL. Winning bidder is responsible for a $500 non-refundable Paypal deposit at auction end. If you don't have a way to pay - don't bid. The remaining balance should be in person or other arrangements can be made before the end of the auction. Would like the car gone by 1 week from auction end. Please ask any questions, we would be happy to answer them.Thank you for looking at our car!
