This car was bought on December 30th, 1965 from Phil Long Ford in Colorado Springs and was owned by the same woman until I bought it in 2012. It is a numbers-matching car that was delivered from the Dearborn, MI factory in Wimbledon White with a black vinyl top, and with the base C-Code 289, air conditioning, power steering, a C4 three-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission, pony interior, and an AM radio (Now has a replacement from 1979, AM/FM/8-track). My son and I have been working on the restoration ever since, and we have touched nearly every part. It was driven approximately 100, 000 miles before the restoration and approximately 3, 500 miles since the restoration. We have had lots of fond memories with this Mustang, and I sincerely hope that the next owners will have the same experience.
First, we found that this car had been in an accident, so we had the frame pulled straight within one millimeter of spec and replaced the battery tray, front aprons and radiator support. Then we gave it to Mustang Paradise in Colorado Springs for body and paint. They replaced the fenders, hood, and quarter panels; and stripped, epoxy primed and painted it in the factory color option of Ivy Green. The suspension, brakes and steering have been updated with new styled wheels, BF Goodrich tires, power front disc brakes, shocks, springs, 1 sway bar, monte carlo bar, etc. The transmission is a three-speed, dual range C4, and was inspected and tuned. The engine has been completely and professionally rebuilt and bored 30 over, with new pistons, valve seats, roller rockers, and a 272 camshaft. I upgraded to a four-barrel Edelbrock carb, K-code exhaust manifolds, and 2 1/2 dual exhaust. All wiring in the engine compartment has been replaced with new. The interior is mostly original. Most replacement parts are Scott Drake. Over $38, 000.00 have been invested. All receipts, original factory invoice, manuals, etc., will come with the car. We are continually adding to this car. I just put on chrome valve covers and a new fan shroud, high-torque, light weight starter, and new under-dash wiring harnesss. Next, I will add the fog light kit and HiPo badges.
The air conditioning is still on the shelf awaiting a restoration. There are a few nicks in the paint because we do enjoy driving our Mustang. There is a small rip in the headliner in a inconspicuous place, above the passenger side A-pillar. The rear differential is the original 2.80:1; so it gets excellent gas mileage. We have several parts that come with this car, such as the original air cleaner, fog lights, (Just the lights. No mounting harnesses, wiring harness, etc.) 2-barrel intake, original valve covers, A/C system, etc.
Clean title in hand. This is a condition #2 car currently valued at approximately $35, 100 by Hagerty for the GT. Originally listed for $35, 000, this is your chance to own an extremely well taken care of Mustang for a fraction of that price.
Don't miss the chance to own this quality restoration of a True to Factory Spec and numbers matching, classic Mustang. Enter your bid now!
