Anglia is being sold without the
engine and transmission!
History
I imported this Anglia from Great Yarmouth, England in 1998. When I received it the Anglia had a 215 cid
aluminum V8 out of a Range Rover and matching 3 speed auto, and a Spitfire
suspension. This suspension and front
brakes were inadequate and the 215 V8 was underpowered. I left the Jaguar independent rear end with
inboard disc brakes but changed the rest of the suspension. This Anglia is a true right hand drive car.
Data Plate
The data plate states A Ford Product Made in England and Constructed
under patents granted in all principal manufacturing countries which
indicates this Anglia was built in England.
Front Suspension
The
entire front suspension is
completely new
to include the boxed frame from the firewall forward. JW's Rod Garage built the custom front
suspension to include the RIGHT HAND DRIVE rack and pinion. Kansas City Rod Shop installed the components
and set up the front end. Everything is
new to include the GM brake rotors, calipers, braided brake lines, front rims, tires, A-arms, QA-1 adjustable coil-over shocks, etc. This Anglia sits like an old gasser and
really looks the part.
Rear Suspension
The Independent rear has inboard disc brakes and dual coil over
shocks. I changed the diff fluid, ran
new brake lines and cleaned up the mechanicals but left the rear end alone.
Interior
The new polished, tilt steering column is ididit brand with a new
steering wheel. Autometer gauges - Fuel, Oil Pressure, Coolant Temp are new. The
Tachometer and Speedometer are from when I received the Anglia but work fine. The front and rear seats match and are of
average quality. Rear seat has an arm
rest that folds down. The door panels
are poorly covered with cheap material. There is no headliner or carpet.
Electrical
Every wire in the Anglia is new. I purchased the fuse box and harness and wired the Anglia's mechanicals, gauges, neutral safety switch, etc to break in the engine. The headlights, brake lights, windshield
wiper, rear license plate light are not wired but the wires are run. I planned to install electric seats, electric
windows and air conditioning so the fuse box is appropriately sized to upgrade
these options.
Body
This Anglia is all steel except for the rear fenders and the rear boot
(trunk lid). The bonnet (hood) and front
fenders are STEEL! You will see few
Anglias with the original folding bonnet as most have been trashed and replaced
with fiberglass. I do not have the
original rear steel fenders or steel boot. The rear fenders have been replaced to accommodate the wider Jag rear
end and tires. The roof top originally
had a folding rubber/vinyl roof. This area has been replaced with a fiberglass
insert (see interior photo) but on the outside it still looks like it has the
folding roof. The side vents do not
function but they are not fiberglassed closed and need a cable run to
each to function again.
Paint
The paint is decent but has lots of flaws. There is a chip (photo) on the passenger (left)
door / side area, the roof line near the fiberglass insert has flaws (photo)
there is a chip on the right rear below the boot (trunk), the boot lid has a
crack near the top, the fenders have chips on the bottom rear where a running
board was previously mounted.
Exhaust
New from headers to the tail pipes. The headers are custom built from heavy walled tubing, mufflers are Hushpower.
Design
The suspension and drive train were set up to handle an anticipated 400
to 450 horse power. The engine and
transmission are solid mounted and the drive shaft was custom built to handle
this load.
Engine and Transmission
The engine and transmission are NOT INCLUDED in this auction. The photos represent that the body and
suspension are designed to accept a small block Chevy engine and a 700R4
transmission. They are available for
purchase separately for an additional cost. If you are interested e-mail me separately to discuss the engine and
transmission specifications. Both have zero miles on them since being
rebuilt. This auction is for everything
pictured except the engine, transmission and the transmission shifter. In other words excluded is everything from
the engine air cleaner through the transmission yolk of the 700R-4. The lights need to be wired.
Included
Radiator, SBC solid motor mounts, drive shaft, transmission cross
member, external transmission cooler and of course the entire suspension, etc.
