I obtained this truck from the estate of an old friend that recently passed away. He purchased it 8 years ago hoping to restore it but never did. He purchased it from the original owner who parked it in his barn in 1965 and been there ever since. Has not seen daylight in 50 years. I'm too old to start a restoration so offering it to someone more capable.
This is a 1949 Ford F4 one ton cab & chassis with dually rear wheels. The mileage is original at 29, 286. Please look at the pictures, they tell the whole story. I have not tried to wash it or clean it, what you see is what I found.
The engine is original but does not turn over or run. I removed the plugs and put oil in the cylinders hoping it will free up. When I hooked up a battery and turned on the key, all the instruments came to life, the lights worked and so did the heater. Brake pedal goes straight to the floor and I assume all the brake cylinder rubbers have rotted. Wheels turn easily so no issues there. Transmission shifts through all gears. Tires have lots of tread and hold air but they are a bit age-checked. All tires have tubes in them.
The original title was lost and I have applied for a new one from the State of Minnesota. They will send me a new one in their good time and I will forward it to the new owner.
I am selling this truck as-is, where is, the way it is at no reserve to the highest bidder. No guarantees of any kind. If you want a fresh barn find, this is it. Buyer is responsible for picking up or shipping from Marietta, MN 56257. I can have the truck delivered anywhere in the lower 48 for $1.10 per loaded mile - basically the cost of delivering it and getting home.
