I am supplying a link to a YouTube video of the truck. I did a walk around of the truck for the sale.
here
The truck is located in Baytown, Texas
Just let me start by saying that this is a great truck and it run and drives great. I am selling this because I just have a baby girl and I actually bought this truck right before my girlfriend found out that she was pregnant. This was going to be and extra vehicle plus my toy. As you know once you have a kid and your personal relationship takes a greater step then everything changes..lol I really don't want to get rid of it and honestly if I can't get what I want for it then I will simply keep it. As time goes on and the truck doesn't sell then I will lower the price. The good thing is that I don't have to sell it. Just getting rid of things that I don't have to have at this point is all.
I will be describing below everything I can think of about the truck. The odometer was attempted to be adjusted by someone which of course thy didn't know what they were doing. That's how I was able to spot it. Don't let that deter you from looking any further. This is a great truck with a clear title. I have a printed out CARFAX report that will go with the truck. This will be lengthy description because I want you to feel secure in buying it. I am trying to include everything I know about it.
I bought this truck from a friend of mine I work with. He said it had only a little over 53, 000 miles on it, so of course I jumped on it. I bought it two days later and drove it home. Upon driving it home I noticed the odometer wasn't turning. I called him and he apologized and said he would replace the cluster cable from the transmission. I told him not to worry and I will fix it. I decided not to get my money back simply because of how good of shape the truck is in.
About a week later I looked it to fixing the odometer. I found out that the cable wasn't the problem once I pulled the cluster. I noticed that someone unplugged the little motor inside the cluster that turns the odometer numbers. Someone also put a piece of electrical tape under the numbers so thy would be straight. I read if the odometer numbers are crooked then that is a sign of odometer fraud. So I assume that this is why they put electrical tape on them. They were unsuccessful of turning the numbers back correctly. I plugged in the odometer at that time and it is working. It has currently 54, 324 on the odometer which I estimate the truck has 84, 000 miles on it. Do not quote me on that! This is what I come up with considering the dates and all.
Ok here it goes. The 3rd owner was a woman that owned the truck for 10 years and 8 months according to CARFAX. When she bought it, it had 42, 321 on 1229 3 when the first time he had it inspected. Estimated length owned is from 10/30/03 - 7/3/14 according to CARFAX. I did the math and she hardly drove this truck. During the time she owned it, she drove it between 393 and 6, 632 miles a year. The last recorded mileage on CARFAX was 81, 239 on 7/24/13 when it was last inspected while she had it. My friend told me he bought it from a guy that bought it from the 3rd owned (woman listed above). Apparently he never did a title transfer. My friend and I believe that this guy is the one that tried to adjust the odometer. I am not sure why he tried to adjust it because this truck had hardly any miles on it anyway. Guess he bought it cheap and wanted to flip it, I dunno. My friend did not inspect it thoroughly to notice the odometer not turning. On the CARFAX report it shows where my friend did a title transfer on 7/3/14. He got an inspection on 8/19/2014 and the odometer read 53, 082 on the CARFAX. I say CARFAX a lot because I am not making up these numbers, dates and mileage. You will receive a copy of the report when you pick up the truck or I can send you pictures of the report. The link is no longer available since it ha been over 30 days since I paid to get the report.
I looked into odometer fraud in Texas and found out I could have a lawsuit but after doing my homework I decided not to. I found out that I would have to get a lawyer and could take a long time before getting any money because that person can be fined by the judge.
I talked with the DMV and asked them if I could sell the truck since the odometer was tampered with. They said it was fine because of the year, the odometer is exempt anyway.
It shows that the 3rd owner had it last on 11714. It shows my friend doing a title transfer on 7314. I have a receipt of when he bought new tires on 6114 though. So that is a little of less than 5 months that is not accounted for. I am thinking that this is when the guy adjusted the odometer. I guess honestly my friend could have done it also. I am not that naïve so I did ask him. He assured me that he did not do it. I believe him because I don't think that he is smart enough to do it.
I bought the truck on 82114 from him and had it registered on 82214. CARFAX shows I registered it on 9214 but that is not important.
Ok now on to the truck:
It came from the factory with a Trail Master package. It replaced the front bumper with a painted green one with fog lights. I still have the bumper. My friend replaced it with a chrome one which is on the truck now. He gave me the painted green front bumper so that will go with the truck. It also replaced the rear bumper with a ZR-1 roll pan with brake lights in it and painted green taillight cover were installed on the OEM ones. It also had bed rails on it but I do not have them. In the interior They replaced the seats with leather ones with electric lumbar. The lumbar works fine. The seats themselves are not electric. It also came with wood grain added interior pieces which I took off. I took off some off the door bottom and in the dash in various spots.
Everything else looks factory except for the added alarm system. So there are no chopped wires in the dash. The radio and cd both are factory and both work.
What's wrong with it:
* It has little very small dents on the hood and roof. It appears to be hail but it is not big dents. They are little. You can hardly tell unless the sun is bright.
* It does have a dent on the side of the bed passenger side which a picture is included of it.
* Misc. scratches on the body. This is just typical of the year. As you can see the truck looks great.
* Brake light on top of cab works but cargo bed light doesn't. There is power to the bulb. Still scratching my head on that one.
What's right with it and what is replaced:
* Clear title in my name
* A.C. works great!! (check out the video)
* I have changed the oil twice and still looks clean.
* I only drive it unless I am using it to get parts because I am working on my other truck.
* It sits under a carport.
* I have changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Also I changed the air and fuel filter as well as the serpentine belt. I do not buy cheap parts so feel secure with that. (have receipts)
* Truck starts up, runs and drives smoothly.
* I bought new front windshield recently and had window tint installed at the same time.
* Had a prestige alarm installed with auto start recently on 6/8/14 by the friend I bought it from (have receipt, box and manuals for it)
* Has new tires with maybe 1200 miles on them. They are 265/75/15. They were also purchased by my friend on 6/1/14
(have receipt for tires)
* Super clean interior and engine compartment is very clean for the year.
* It comes from the factory with dual catalytic converters so you can true dual the exhaust
* Still has the original owners manual with it
* I just replaced the brake switch. It's at the brake pedal. Not a fun job but it is replaced.
Feel free to ask any questions!! If you want to discuss the truck on the phone before you consider buying it, message me for my phone number or leave yours. If you live or have a friend that lives close and want to look at it, that is ok with me. If you want to have the truck inspected at a reputable place like CARMAX then that I ok with me as well. (your cost of course)
