I bought this pickup as a project because I have always wanted to put a Dodge Cummins motor in a GM truck. This truck is absolutely a hoot to drive. I purchased the pickup existing with a 454 in it and found a wrecked 1998 Dodge with a 5 speed transmission. The cummins motor (yes intercooled) had 130k virgin miles on it as it was adult owned and is still a virgin as the folks I hired to do the swap (Newcomb Diesel, Kearney, NE) totally went through it and tuned it up a little for some extra power. The list is long including the motor swap, transmission swap, new clutch, transfer case, new rebuilt axles w/ 3.73 ratio, new 4 inch lift, new 4 inch exhaust, new front springs, new cold air intake, radiator, etc. I put new rubber on it that are 265 would like to go bigger with different rims. .but my piggy bank is empty. .The pickup had a flatbed on it and I had thoughts to find the original style box, however I am out of funds and the wife says its gotta go. If you would like an itemized list of the work done I would be glad to email it to you. The boys at Newcomb Diesel did it right as I told them to not take any short cuts. At this point the pickup really only needs a little body work for some dings, but no rust exist on it at all and then a paint job. The interior is fair, but has typical crack in dash from sun/heat. The front seat would need redone or replaced with some modern captains chairs. It is a 4x4, fully functional with lockouts, with 4 door cab (3+3) decal on cab. ..The truck is wired for cruise control, just would need a different column installed. Has A/C, manual windows with duel fuel tanks, both repaired and functional. Again, there is an extremely long list and trust me a lot of hooch was invested. Total investment to date...$35k including 1990 itself, wrecked donor, and all work done at Newcomb Diesel. This truck has so much potential and seriously with some finishing touches could be on the front page of Diesel Magazine. The truck is for sale locally, but have my doubts any takers because of the investment and age of project. Please call 308 785 7846
I am an honest, hard working lad from Rural NE so please help yourself here. I will be as honest as far as my mechanical knowledge goes. If you have questions above that Newcomb Diesel would be glad to help.
Thanks for looking! If you have any suggestions of how else or where else to post within ebay, etc please let me know. I just need to get most of my investment back and someone else can have fun with this awesome toy!
