Hello!
Whelp... the time has finally come to find Blue Velvet a new home. I bought this car as a practical commuter car as I worked through college, and now after graduating several years ago it's finally time for her to spread her wings and bring joy to her next adopted parent. I've driven the car for about 4 years and she has been a very reliable machine! To this day, aside from topping off the oil now and then, she runs great and never disappoints. She's a bit older, so she's needed some care over the last few years. The following is what's been worked on specifically while she's been in my care:
- New Battery and alternator (about 2 years ago)
- New Brakes (rotors and calipers; what amounts to all 4 being replaced over the past 4 years, the most recent one being a couple weeks ago)
- 2 Tires replaced about a year ago; other two have some decent tread left
- Oil changed about every 3, 500 miles; just changed within the past week ( I top it off once in a while when needed)
- New spark plugs and plug wires (about 1 year ago)
- New ball joint/lower control arm
The car starts up great even on the mighty cold winter days and the heated seats are fantastic! As with any car her age, there are bound to be a few issues. There is rust in the wheel wells, on the front of the hood and on the roof. There is a good sized dent on the driver fender and a small dent and scratches from a past rear-ender on the back bumper. The driver's seat has a tear that - despite my pleading - has grown across the length of the seat. The sunroof's motor works great, but something is amiss in the track, so it has issues opening and closing (I imagine fixable for a patient person such as yourself). Aside from the rust and age of the car, she has been fantastically reliable and fun to drive. I regularly get 32 mpg (I drive pretty modestly) and love how easy it is to park.
In short, if you want a car with luxuries to match her scars that won't break the bank, this is your car. These engines are notorious for being bulletproof, and I'm sure BV will make her next owner happy as well. Take care of her and she'll take care of you.
