1962 International Harvester Other C120

International Harvester Other C120 (1962)
for sale

Price: US $770.00

Description:

For sale is a very rare, heavy duty 3/4 ton, 1962 International Harvester factory 4 wheel drive C120 Crew Cab pickup truck, called a Travelette. This truck has a 304 V8, 4 speed manual transmission, 2 speed transfer case and locking hubs on the Dana 44 front axle.
Truck info:
* The drive train is in very good condition. The engine is a 304 V8 engine. I was told it came from a military truck with less than 30k original miles on it. I have no way to verify or prove this, but I will say it runs very quiet with good oil pressure and no knocking or other noises and it does not smoke, not even on start-up.
* The transmission has been rebuilt, as has the transfer case.
* New u-joints were installed in the drive-lines.
* The brakes were done and the parking brake works perfectly. However, the master cylinder has not been rebuilt and leaks.
* There is no rust-through anywhere on the truck that I know of. But the previous owner did replaced some of the floor, possibly rusted from sitting with broken windows. The po also fixed a couple holes in the roof from some type of antenna or spotlight.
* I had the truck painted about two years ago to prevent any rust from forming on the body, but I did not do any bodywork or put any bondo on the truck before painting it, so there are a few wrinkles and dents here and there from years of use.
* The glass in all 4 doors and wind wings was replaced about two years ago, as was the window felt.
* The windows all roll up and down properly.
* The doors all lock and unlock perfectly. The doors are keyed alike.
* The factory gauges All work.
* Some things are now disassembled from the dash (but are included with the truck such as the heater box and controls). I was planning to pull the dash and repaint it, but sometimes life happens… job loss, a little time under the knife in the hospital, and now I must move and I have no money for the move. Therefore sadly I must sell my truck before I finish it or get a chance to drive it anywhere. My loss is your gain, but please be generous in your bids. And don’t let this very rare, highly desirable, crew cab pickup truck get away from you. I’m sure you will never find another one like this truck. And I know you will grow to appreciate and enjoy it as much as I have. I live on a somewhat busy street and many times people have come to the door asking to buy the truck. Unfortunately I never kept their phone numbers as I never intended to sell it. Except for the bad master cylinder and old tires, this truck could be a daily driver now, in its present condition.
More truck info:
* The spare tire (included) does not hold air.
* With this truck are also included a complete set of 6 dual 16 inch wheels that fit this truck. Shown is a picture of them sitting in the back of the truck.
* All the junk and non ’62 pickup related items will be removed from the bed and from the back seat inside the truck before you take delivery.
* A few months ago I installed two NOS new headlight buckets with new headlights, rings, adjusters, wiring, plugs, etc. These came with the headlights. But 50 year old headlights did not last very long and must be replaced.
* The truck was completely rewired with a new Painless wiring kit. Everything works properly (gauges, indicator lights, etc) except the two wires going to the back tail lights are crossed. When you turn the left turn signal on, the right one flashes and when you turn the right turn signal on, the left one flashes. Should be an easy fix. I just did not have the time.
* The engine is a heavy duty 304 V8 engine, from a medium duty Loadstar truck with an eight quart oil pan.
* The air cleaner is also from a Loadstar truck, but the top needs to be painted black to match the bottom.
* The oil filter is a large spin-on heavy truck oil filter.
* The inline fuel filter is a 2 micron spin-on filter - far, far superior to the little cheap inline fuel filters frequently used which are only rated at 140 microns.
* Note too the little fuel/water separator filter attached to the carb inlet. This let’s you see the condition of the fuel and any moisture in the gas as it will settle to the bottom of this filter.
* The truck is located in Van Nuys, California 91405 and would be a dependable cross-country driver now, as is, except the tires are old and the master cylinder is bad. Unfortunately the landlord will not allow me to do major work on the truck here so the truck must be towed. I’ll be moving later in June so the truck can sit here until then as you make arrangements to have it towed. I might suggest U-Ship.com. They have been good for me in the past.
* To keep the truck running well I always start it a couple times a month and let it run 30 to 45 minutes to keep the gas fresh and bring the engine up to temperature to assure no condensation is forming inside the engine block. I think you get the idea – I never intended to sell this truck but life situations have forced my hand.
* I have the pink slip in my name and the California registration is up to date, but I have it registered as non-op. Also the truck is smog-exempt – a big plus in my opinion for many reasons here in California.
* Included is a reprint of the factory shop manual and dealer parts book.
* I think I covered all the points, the good, the bad and the ugly, but if you have any questions, please ask and don’t wait until the last day. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. I reserve the right to end this auction early as I also have it listed for sale and/or for possibly partial trades (hint, hint) elsewhere. I need the use of a 16 ft moving truck or bus, and/or car trailer, among other things, for my move from Van Nuys, California to Oregon. So if you have any suggestions or recommendations, I would be interested in hearing them.
* If you ever wanted a very rare but dependable truck, a cool head turner, a real workhorse that hasn’t been beat to death, lifted or modified, a piece of American history, a vehicle that will comfortably hold the entire family, and a vehicle that only goes up in value, here it is. It is desirable and just needs some finishing tlc to bring out its best. All the heavy, expensive work has been done to the truck.
Don’t pass on the opportunity to get this truck or you will forever regret it. As somewhat of an expert on this series of trucks, I know you will never find another one like it. The ’62 IH pickup, with the dual headlights, is very rare, and the crew cab Travelette version is all the more rare. Most mechanical parts are common, standard and readily available. I can show you where to find most any part you need and there is a strong IH community to help support you in anything you may want to do with the truck. And, if you ever have any questions about the truck (mechanical how to’s or otherwise) after you take delivery of the truck, keep my contact information as I am always very willing to help you in any way I can. I want to be sure you enjoy the truck and get the most out of it you can.
Check my feedback and bid with confidence.
--- IMPORTANT NOTE --- IMPORTANT NOTE --- READ THIS !!!!!
A NON-REFUNDABLE $ 500 DEPOSIT MUST BE MADE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE AUCTION’S END!
Otherwise I will cancel your bid and either relist the truck or give it as a second chance offer to the next highest bidder, depending... Unless I have grossly misrepresented this truck in some way, the deposit will not be refunded. I do this because I have had experience with non-paying bidders in the past. But now I must move soon, and I cannot wait around waiting to see if someone is going to make a payment or not. You are welcome to inspect the truck yourself and hear it run before you bid. Just contact me the day before you want to see it.
You must agree with all of my policies to bid. The truck is over 50 years old and I was not able to finish its restoration, so there are many small imperfections with it, and small things to be done, although I think I mentioned everything.
--- IMPORTANT NOTE --- REMAINDER OF PAYMENT --- READ THIS !!!!!
The remainder of the payment must be made within 7 days unless we agree to other arrangements. If not made, you will lose your deposit and the truck will either be relisted or offered as a second chance offer to the next highest bidder. The truck can stay here until almost the end of June to allow you to make whatever towing arrangements you need to make. After that I’m gone and you’ll have to make your own arrangements with the landlord if you need the truck to sit here longer.
--- ZERO or NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ---
If you have lots of negative feedbacks, or any non-payment feedbacks, or no feedback at all here on eBay, your 24 hour deposit must be $500 or 10% of the final sale, which ever is greater and is subject to the same terms as stated in the previous two paragraphs. If you think your eBay feedbacks are borderline, contact me and I will let you know. I know life happens and so one cannot always keep good eBay feedbacks. And it’s really hard if you sell lots of things on eBay to keep everyone happy. But my policies are not just to protect me, but also to be fair to others who are bidding and should not have to pay more because someone else who cannot or has no intention of paying for the truck bids the price higher.
This is a great truck. It has many years of use in it now with its new engine and rebuilt drive train, and just needs your touch to finish it to become the real head-turner it can be.
I will take more pictures and post them here in the next few days, so check back often.
I wish you luck.
Good day.
