1998 Isuzu Amigo

Isuzu Amigo (1998)
for sale

Price: US $500.00

Description:

LOW MILES! THIS IS THE AMIGO YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!
Up for sale is my
1998 Isuzu Amigo S 4WD
with the
5 speed manual transmission
and the 2.2L 4 cylinder engine. This vehicle is accident free for 17 years and probably has the lowest mileage of any Amigo around for its kind.
I've had this car for 2 years, and its been my weekend warm season driver. I purchased it from a mechanic 2013. Aside from the extremely low miles, as well as the rarity of finding the 4 cylinder with the 5 speed 4WD option, you're gonna be hard pressed to come by another Amigo like this.
I replaced the vinyl soft top, as well as the spare tire cover. Looks very sharp. The interior is clean, only some slight discoloration on some of the cloth seats. I put on new tires last year and have driven maybe 300 miles since putting them on. No off-roading. I only insured this car seasonally and it was out of my garage in the warmer months, mainly to go fishing (as you can tell from the bumper stickers).
Engine wise, there's a brand new battery as well as AC Delco alternator. The EGR Valve was replaced, as well as the Idle Air Control Valve (and I will talk about this later on).
I won't sit here and say that Amigos are as sought after as Wranglers, but they definitely do have a following as well as fan forums (just Google it). The vinyl top can be removed as well as the moonroof. You will save gas with this baby, and will definitely suit you whether you need a weekend warrior, off roader, or a daily driver.
Now, back to the Idle Air Control Valve being replaced. This part is VERY hard to find for the 2.2L 4 cylinder engine, since most valves you will find for sale are for the Amigos/Rodeos with the 3.2L 6 cylinder (believe me, eBay will lead you wrong with this). It is an obsolete part through Isuzu. I was able to find one that was compatible with the 2.2L that works correctly, however, it leads to the check engine light coming on with an error code of high idling RPM. After troubleshooting with one of the last Isuzu factory servicing constituents in NJ (Maroon Kia in Wayne NJ), the conclusion is the on board computer may need to be replaced to prevent it from reading that error. This, obviously, is extremely expensive and completely unnecessary. The Amigo runs exceptionally well and you will have no headaches with it. The AC blows cold, however the blower motor has gotten quite loud. It can be replaced if you so choose ($200 part) but you wont need it when the top is down and the moonroof is off!!
All I did before I took the pictures was wash the car down with a hose. I'm not going to detail it to try to persuade you the car looks better than it does. This is how it will look if it sits in your driveway or becomes your daily driver. On the exterior, there is some cracking on the driver's side rear bumper. Outside of that, there are dings and scratches here and there, but nothing extreme. All the factory decals are original and are where they should be.
Let me express that I don't NEED to sell this, I WANT to sell this. Let me explain the difference between the two. If I needed to sell this, I would possibly entertain low-ball and unreasonable offers. Because I want to sell this, I am willing to negotiate, but within reason,
so make an offer
. Go to Cars.com, AutoTrader, or scour the rest of eBay and try to find one like this with as low miles. I wish you luck with that. Don't even bother with the KBB price on this. To just prove to you how wrong KBB is on cars, especially older cars, it values a 1992 Range Rover Classic with 140K miles in excellent condition at $1800. Interesting, considering they are selling for upwards of $7, 000 even in not that great of shape. So please, don't have the Blue Book blues.
This Amigo has tons of life left in her, and is ready for find its new owner that will treat her as well as I did. You'll look great at the beach with this one!
I have the title in hand. For sale locally as well so
DON'T MISS OUT
! Shipping will be up to the buyer to set up. If you're close enough, come drive her away in style.
Don't hesitate to ask me any questions! If you want specific photos, just contact me!
MAY 22nd 2015 Update: To answer some questions I've been getting: Yes, the 4WD works. The Amigo is in RWD until you engage the 4WD. There are absolutely no problems with it. The owner's manual comes with the car by the way.
If you feel I am asking too much for it, then why don't MAKE AN OFFER! As I have stated, I am willing to negotiate! Just wanna send me a message to chat about Amigos and how cool they are? Go right ahead! I love this car and am sad to see it go, but it's time. I have nowhere to put it, and this car deserves to be garaged! If you want to make an all-year daily driver, you can get a hard top for it (costs around $900). You'll stand out from the rest of the Jeep Stranglers in this baby!
MAY 26th 2015 Update: 12 hours left and a lot of watchers and viewers, and thank you all for the interest! One particular thing I've noticed is some people are not reading my description correctly, or rather misreading it. Let me be clear, the ECU module DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED!!! It was merely a trouble shooting suggestion as to prevent the High Idle RPM error code from being read, or in layman's terms: to prevent the Check Engine light from coming on. I'm being as transparent with you all as possible. Instead of being a shady car-dealership, and merely resetting the computer to turn off the light so you wouldn't know any better when you purchase, I am being very truthful and forthcoming. The Amigo has no other engine related problems than the false error code being read. She drives smooth and you will have NO problems driving her. I am selling her because I simply don't have the space anymore. Metaphorically speaking, I haven't pulled the pin on a grenade and am trying to pass it off before it explodes. She is in great shape and the tire-kickers/low-ballers who have come to test drive her already have agreed. She is very sound mechanically! I am sure you are aware how uncommon it is to come by a 5 speed 4WD Amigo. This has low mileage and people are trying to selling RWD Amigos with 150K+ miles for roughly $2, 500. She has plenty of life left in her and you will get loads of warm weather enjoyment with the top down and sunroof off! DON'T MISS OUT!
