Hey everyone thanks for taking a look at this trooper, I’m going to give a detailed explanation of the cars condition and everything I know about it as best to my ability. If there is any questions about something I have not touched on please feel free to email me so I can help you out! I got this vehicle at an auction and drove it for the summer and was planning on using as a winter vehicle however my plans have changed and a new car is on order so I present to you this surprisingly clean trooper. First and most importantly, this trooper has zero rust body or frame wise and as an avid enthusiast I won’t touch anything that’s even minutely rusty. The truck was owned way down south and never saw the northeast until 2014.
Exterior: In addition to what I have mentioned about the frame and body; the paint is in decent shape for its age with the average amount of shopping mall dents as one may expect. I had gone over it with a clay bar and a few stages of machine type wax earlier in the summer but another coat wouldn't hurt before the weather turns. Just last month I fitted new all-terrain tires on all four corners. They are brand new and I have the receipt and warranty for them that should transfer with the new owner. The wheels are curb free and look rather aggressive with the trooper’s appearance and mild lift. All exterior lighting is functional as is the rear wiper which is a common piece of equipment to fail with age.
Interior: As a basic utility vehicle goes the interior is of average condition with the driver’s seat being the least desirable aspect. The radio functions as it should as does every button and knob you can find. The floor has been monster lined correctly and provides some extra durability for whatever projects you may come across. The back seats fold down into position A and then fold forward into position B giving even more room and access to a utility type department under the seats. I wish there was more to speak of in conjunction with the interior but it’s pretty basic.
Mechanical: The Trooper shines in this degree as I have spent a lot of time bringing this truck to a reliable and capable condition. All of the vacuum lines that control the 4WD system have been redone and secured assuring the driver the truck will always engage into 4WD. The light no longer works but anyone that is familiar with a 4WD vehicle will feel the engagement upon shifting into the desired High or Low. Both front CV axles have been replace along with their bearings and seals. The front rotors and pads were replaced and the back pads were placed and back rotors resurfaced as they were not that bad at all but might as well while off. I went ahead and redid the upper and lower ball joints and sway bar bushings. Furthermore, a new muffler and tailpipe were installed upon the beginning of the summer. Motor wise, the truck runs strong and has never left me stranded or in question, it has been on regular runs to home depot as well as a few 3, 4 and 5 hour trips to D.C and Virginia without one issue. It does have the typical trooper tick at its age and condition it has not affected it at all. Some of these trucks drove off the lot with this notorious tick and continue to run today. The top of the radiator was at one point repaired with some sort of two part epoxy but I have never really paid much attention to it as it’s not going anywhere nor does it affect the temperature the truck runs at. The transmission has been well cared for and presents no shifting issues or slippage and operates in all gears.
With all of that said let’s keep in mind this Is still almost a 20 year old vehicle and will have its flaws but with the condition that it’s been kept in this is a presentable vehicle for both the everyday driver or full-sized 4wd fans. The title is clear and in hand for this vehicle and I’m hoping to hand it off to someone who will appreciate it for what it is, a rust free somewhat rare Trooper that we just done see anymore.
