Many of you Jaguar XKE watchers may recognize this car from the E bay listing I ran last month! As I said (Honestly) at the time I was extremely reluctant to be selling it. Well it did SELL or at least it appeared to sell... One must be paid for am item however to consider the sale as complete! Oh well... Back to the starting line...
Out of a bad experience, Good can often come! This was the case with my XKE. The car had been sitting for years and the first thing I did was to re-commission the motor! After Soaking the cylinders down and hand turning the motor, I went through the carburetors and ignition systems cleaning, adjusting and making it ready to start. This it did on the very first turn of the key! After a bit more adjustment it starts easily and idles very well , and pulls great oil pressure! In addition, all the gauges work!!
I then went through the braking and clutch systems, making the brakes and clutch operational. The interior has received a very through cleaning and leather treatment, and after all of this I realized, that the best thing to do was make it ready to drive so it can be used and enjoyed for the summer months. Than when the rains of winter close it, start the restoration! To this end I have patched the floors and toe boards with Fiberglass making them good for the up coming summer driving season.
The car comes with brand new very high end Martin Robey Repair panels, but why take the car out of commission before you even get to enjoy it? In addition to the new body panels their are loads of new and excellent used spare parts I am including with the sale of the car. I will be very happy to send you a full inventory list as well as a Video of the car starting and running, and later in the week (when I finish bleeding the brakes, and pressure testing the cooling system) driving, simply ask.
Also for those of you who (like me) are constantly on the look out for an affordable XKE should Note, That This car I am selling may be the Last GOOD and relatively inexpensive E type you are likely to see for less than $40K that is running and drive able!. The Values of these cars especially ones that run , are in as good of condition as this car, and have the best options that include wire wheels, 4 speed manual transmission and good interiors are simply going through the roof...
