Description:

SHECAT1 is truly an immaculate Classic Restoration and special interest car. Appraised in 2014 at $44, 500. The odometer was not turned back when the new V8 350 crate engine conversion by John's Cars was installed and has only 58, 721 miles on the new engine. I bought the car new from Crown in St. Petersburg, Florida and have owned the car as the only owner (female) since late1985. SHECAT1 has always been in Florida and garaged. The car has always met every expectation...beauty, luxury, drivability and pure class! In 1998 at 155, 963 miles the car was a daily driver and needed restoration. SHECAT1 has a different story from many of her era. .she never left me on the side of the road and I never needed the second car to drive which was the standing joke AMONG NON-JAG OWNERS! The conversion came about because I didn't like the new Jaguars of the time nor anything else on the road. I loved my XJ6 Jag! The restoration objective was to continue to drive the car daily and return her to the original beauty maintaining the reliability I was used to. Discussion about the maintenance affordability and option of how to accomplish this followed. My husband who was a car collector found the shop to restore my CAT. Special Cars Only in Oldsmar, Florida (813 854-4494 or 813 368-2566). Keith and Jimmy work on the car and the total restoration took almost a year to complete. These guys do nothing but quality and in fact have been mentioned in Cavallino Magazine December 2008/January 2009, edition #168 for their work on a rare 250TRI Ferrari sports racer. Their shop is mentioned in that edition on page 46 for their part in the success of the car in both Pebble Beach Concours and for Best of Show at the March 2006 Amelia Island Concours. I mention this only for an idea of the quality of their work. They would be happy to speak to any potential buyer about the restoration. Restored in her original stunning black exterior with Savile Grey original interiors with walnut wood in 1999-2000. .this CAT is truly one of the best in the United States. SHECAT1 became a garage queen after I had driven the car for a couple of years which is the reason for only 58, 721 miles on the new engine. The reality of the cost of her restoration at $120K made me decide to deem her a GARAGE QUEEN after realizing there was no way to protect my investment from the interstate road hazards such as trucks throwing out stones and pebbles. I had too much invested. A daily driver she is for someone buying her and spending far less.
When the restoration project started, the mechanic who had serviced the car after the new car warranty was out, introduced me to John's Cars ( here and wanted me to consider the engine conversion being I wanted a affordable and dependable daily driver. At the time of restoration, the original engine type (1986, 6 cylinder, fuel injected 258 CID) was old technology and Jaguar had not yet built a new type engine. The options for the engine was either to rebuild the original engine or find another rebuilt. The third option, putting a new 350, V8 crate motor was considered. John's Cars Conversions had 20 years of experience at the time of my restoration. Prior to the decision, I completed many interviews with other owners who had made the same decision with Johns Cars for their CATS. I decided to convert the engine.
The car and I have been members of the local Suncoast Jaguar Club as Display class and SHECAT1 is on the club brochure. She has also been featured in several magazines involved with my business. My reason for offering the car is the reposition of assets and because she deserves to be shown and driven which I am not doing presently. My husband passed away in 2012 and the interest of classic cars without him is not the same. SHECAT1 comes with the original boot tools and maintenance hand book as well as the dealer original bill of sell. She has an updated stereo and security system and wears Parelli tires. I have documentation of all restoration costs and a picture history of the phases of restoration at Special Cars Only. Owning SHECAT1 for the auction price and less than $120K will be a great monetary gain for someone. The monetary gain is a huge plus to her purchase but so are the facts of few XJ6's in good condition on the road AND she turns heads! Even if one decided to return the engine and transmission back to the original, there is still a monetary gain in the body and interior quality and cost of that part of the restoration. I would like the vanity plate (SHECAT1) to stay with the car if agreed. This is a special car to drive daily or own as a collector. The wife of any of you guys would love the car too!
