British Racing Green, 1996 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas. I'm the third owner of this fantastic car. It has less than 76k miles on it, but since it's my daily driver I'm listing it at 76k.
What I've put into it:Front brakes (last year)Rear brakes (this year) both of them just pads, the rotors were fine. All the engine coils are new (two started to go early this year and I just did them all to be done with it, they were old, it made sense)All the plugs are newInner and outer hub rings on the front wheels (this year)Fuel pump (this year)AC compressor & receiver (two years ago)New windshield (last year) What's left:It needs a CAM sensor ($200 or so)It's also about time for rear shocks (not sure on a price)The sunroof doesn't work, it's nearly 20 years old so that should be surprising. But if you want to repair it I can tell you what it needs.
The story on this car is that it's first owner was the owner of a large hotel in North Carolina. He drove (or was driven in it) somewhat sparingly. When I bought the car nearly three years ago it had 55, 000 miles on it. The owner of this hotel passed away, and his assistant sold me the car.
The car drives as good as it looks.
The interior is in excellent condition, the exterior is in very good condition as well. You can see it in the pictures.
I was in a minor accident with this car last year, someone hit the rear passenger door. However I was very firm as to which body shop would do the work. As you can see from the pictures, you can't even tell it happened. I can't recommend that shop highly enough. When it was in the shop I took the opportunity to replace the front windshield, it had been scratched since I bought it.
At any rate, the car drives very, very well and gets compliments all the time.
I don't smoke, and I honestly don't think it's ever been smoked in. The leather is in great shape, particularly the back. The driver's side is a bit worn, but nothing unexpected.
It's been garaged, I believe, it's entire life. Although with me now, during the day it lives outside. But at nights and on the weekends it's garaged.
I'm listing it here to see what the appetite for it is. I really don't want to trade this car into a dealer when I look toward a new car. This Jaguar is awesome. And I'm afraid any dealer will just ship it off to auction because of its age. And yet it's so low mileage, I'd prefer it go to someone who really will love it. It's a great, great car.
