1987 Jaguar XJS, V12. Three speed transmission. The engine is very quiet and runs strong. Vehicle drives straight and smooth. It responds well at acceleration and braking. New brakes and rotors installed 3/15/2014. New alternator and battery installed 5/30/2015. Gas tanks pulled and recoated 2013. New leather seats installed 1/15/2014. Fuel gauge does not work. Parking brake light stays on. Original stock Jaguar cassette radio. Full owner's manual with cassette tape and code for theft system on radio. Convertible snap on sock. Full size spare on matching rim. It will heat up if left parked and running for extended periods. After market air conditioner is controlled by a toggle switch mounted under steering wheel. Paint is original and excellent condition for its age. Power antenna works but missing decorative cap at the body of vehicle. Convertible top will need to be replaced or patched but does work automatically when the switch is activated. Light cover missing at luggage rack behind passenger seat. This vehicle is current on its registration and inspection as required by the State of Texas.
This car has aged well. It does have its nuances. It does not like to go until it has time to warm up (typically 3 minutes from a cold start) , and it will tell you when it's ready with a slight rev of it's engine. It is a fun vehicle and does get many comments when out in public. The car wants to run everyday and starts first crank when operated daily. Let it sit for a few days and it typically takes a couple tries before it is ready to go. When driving, first gear, it gets its momentum and once in second, it has the power to accelerate very quickly. It will require a home that will maintain its needs and take care of it, to keep it running and looking as good as it does for a 28 year old vehicle.
