This beautiful XK8 runs and drives as smooth and strong as the day it was delivered. In fact, its BETTER than new with the recently installed upgraded timing chains, tensioners, and guides. If you've done your research, you know the early XK8's were plagued with inferior tensioners that failed between 50k-70k miles. The fix was to replace the plastic guides with upgraded material. Most XK's you will see that boast of the repair only included the upper tensioners. This car has had all four chains and accompanying tensioners and guides replaced in the last month. This repair alone costs between $3k-$4k+ depending on where you take it. So, beware of any XK's with low miles that do not have these repairs documented.
Along with the timing repairs, we replaced the water pump, a/c compressor, and performed all fluid services (oil, coolant , and transmission). Other recent upgrades (within the past 10k miles) include a Pioneer Bluetooth stereo with hands free phone and audio streaming, 19 5-spoke chrome rims (with Jaguar center caps), and the fun racing stripes. The exterior shines like new with just a few blemishes/rock chips on the front of the hood. The interior shows little to no wear other than the center console clasp is finally wearing out...another typical concern with these cars. The convertible top works great with no leaks, rips or holes. However, it does show slight wear cosmetically. The 19 chrome rims and Toyo Proxes tires were installed a year ago and have approximately 10k miles on them. The brake pads and rotors, front end bushings, rack& pinion, and drive shaft flange, were all replaced at that time as well. There are no codes, warnings, or faults. Simply a great, fun, reliable sports car to drive every day or just to the beach on weekends. I own/operate an auto repair and restoration facility. This car was a labor of love for my son and me. Unfortunately, now at college in the Midwest, the rear wheel drive convertible doesn't suit him for the coming winter. So, the car stayed with me in sunny Nevada and my son is off to college with an AWD X-Type Jag instead. I do love this car, but it doesn't get used enough to keep it.
It is priced to sell quickly. It is also for sale locally and will be removed from ebay if sold. I can help coordinate shipping, though all shipping costs and liabilities are the responsibility of the buyer. I encourage pre-sale inspections. I can arrange to pick you up at McCarren International Airport in Las Vegas if you decide to fly in and drive home.
