For Sale is my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. I have only had it for a year, but it served me well. I consider it as dependable as my Acura – and that says a LOT!!
I’m selling because I’m moving from Cape Cod to the North Shore and will not have access to an over-sand opportunity and the occasional off-road. I had this on the sand bars in Dennis and the highways to Manhattan. It runs great in all circumstances and my mechanic tells me it should continue to do so. He’s available to talk about the truck to serious buyers ONLY.
It has 153k miles, is an automatic, new Bluetooth, Pandora, USB, c/d and FM radio, tires are 12 months old (Yokohama) with a donut spare and an additional on-wheel, full spare. The serpentine belt was changed along with the valve cover gasket when I bought it. I also added the Rolo roof basket. The previous owner also gave me a three-ring binder with repair records dating back to 2003. Recently I changed out the front brakes and calipers, wheel bearings, rear brakes and leaf springs, new headlights and a few other things. It’s all well documented and done by reputable mechanics – no backyard repairs on this truck!
There is no shake or jitter in the tracking. It drives the same at 5mph as it does at 75 mph – rock solid. Off road, in super soft sand, this Jeep passed a stuck Silverado, Land Rover, Tahoe and helped pull a 4Runner from the dune. In fairness, all three cases were drivers that didn’t know how to “drive with the shifting sand” but the Jeep prompted a solid handshake and sincere thank you from all involved.
The problems: The roof liner needs regluing or replacing, one speaker doesn’t work (new one in box included), the A/C may need a charge or compressor - there is rust, but if you don’t mind the appearance of it or feel confident fixing it, it’s just what it is and does not affect the performance. It just this month passed Massachusetts Inspection.
People always comment on its appearance. It’s truly a classic and drives like it’s proud of itself.
