2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7 in very good condition other than the right head has dropped a valve seat on # 2 cylinder . Rebuilt upgraded heads are aprox. $450.This motor had a early design flaw that affected the #1 and #2 cylinders with a lack of cooling which caused the loose tolerance valve seats to fall out.The rebuilt heads available have this problem solved. The Jeep runs enough to drive it onto a flatbed or trailer. The good points are that it has a new power steering pump, new rear brakes with new drums and a brand new fuel pump with less than 1 hour on it.( originally thought fuel pump was bad while my son was in school in Philadelphia but it turned out to be the valve seat).It also has new rear tires. Inspection of # 2 cylinder with a bore scope shows that the piston top and cylinder walls appeared good with some valve seat material sitting on top.The jeep has been in our family for some time and has been great, i have too many things to work on ( Lotus Turbo Esprit, TVR ect...) and just don't have the time to swap the head.The 4 wheel drive works great and my son used this as his daily driver for 6 years with myself doing all of the fluid changes ( Mobil 1) and maintenance.The Jeep is straight as an arrow and never been bent.Some minor rust on the bottom of drivers door.
