Up for auction is my 1990 Jeep YJ with 175xxx miles and 5 speed transmission. It’s is very good condition for a 25 year old jeep. She’s no show boat but she’s good and dependable. Started every single time during last year’s winter here in Chicago and has never left me stranded. I’ve had her for almost 2 years and is my every day car… the ONLY reason why I’m selling her is because she’s a 4 cylinder and I just got a 6 because I want to start hauling a boat next season. I get compliments on her all the time at the pump and at stop lights. So this is what she has and what she still needs.
She has 31” Dick Cepek Crusher tires with 1.5” wheel spacers. Tires and rims are in very good condition… no holes or patches. New battery, new radiator, new cold air intake, new stainless steel hardware throughout. All electrical works… turn signals, brakes, hazards, headlights. Gauges all work… clock doesn’t. I have a replacement cluster gauge I can add for an extra $100 (NOT included). Heater and fan works control cables are there but not hooked up. Antenna but no radio. I have a 1 DIN radio I will include for free. I also have a good sound bar with nice speakers and wiring (no brackets) I can add for $75 (NOT included). Seat belts all work. Good, strong engine and transmission. Fresh radiator fluid, motor oil, transmission fluid (Royal Purple $20 a quart, not the cheap stuff) both from and rear differential fluids. Have already put a lot of time and money in her… drives straight. Can do over 65 on the highway with no issues. Included are both a soft top and a hard top. Hard top has a small crack that was repaired but never painted. Soft top is in good shape with no tears but the stitching on the passenger side came undone and needs to be resewn. The windows are clean, tinted with no tears. Included is the frame and rails. One of the frame arms is bent and needs straightening out. the soft top is for square soft doors (which I never got) the hard doors are in very good condition… no rust on the bottom but surface rust is starting to show and the window frame above the door locks. No key for the doors locks. New fuel filter, plugs, cables and rotor.
She needs a fresh paint job. Some surface rust is starting to appear. Floors are good (better than any other jeep I’ve seen this old) and so is the frame. No high beams no interior courtesy lights… high beams are burned out. Wheel bearings… front driver side it starting to tick when running. 4 wheel drive is not working… that I never got around to trouble shoot. All gears and shifts work fine. Hard door outside window weather strips need adding. They’re like 20 buck each on eBay. Interior carpeting needs to be redone… never got around to tearing it out.
I’m offering her with a very low reserve for all your getting. The Jeep, hard top and soft top. if she sells at the Buy it Now price I’ll include the replacement gauges, sound bar, and a nice gray Bimini top for free!! All in all she’s a very nice jeep, very reliable and TONS of fun to drive! No emissions to worry about either… like I said only reason I’m selling her is because I can’t pull a boat with her.
